Anyone else have a fit issue with front carpeting?

Tonight I noticed that where the driver-side front mat locks are on my new TRD Sport, there's an air gap of about an inch+ under them between the carpet and the actual frame. In other words, with any floor mat or all weather mat taken off, if you press on the twist locks, you can press down an inch or more before you feel the frame. No cushion there, just a gap. This is true across the entire side through to the console.

Has anyone else noticed a problem here? It seems like it would cause early wear and even a tear in the pre-formed crease under the seat.

    Thanks in advance for feedback.

This seems like some truly petty shit to be worried about....

Could be the way the carpet is design? Personally I've never checked the fit of the flooring inva vehicle.

I wouldn't call this petty, I would call this post informative. Potential buyers can check this concern on their own, along with current owners.

I have yet to sit in a 4th gen. I recall seeing in photos where the front of the seat bolts to a raised portion of the floor.

Is that the frame you are referring to, and where your concern is that the carpetting could tear?

The stiff carpet has a fold down from the front seat bolts, then flattens towards the front of the cab. On my first 2 Tacomas, the carpet laid flat and tight against the floor frame, like it was glued down. On this truck, the carpet is loose, and 'floats' with a gap of 1"+ in places before you feel the floor. When in the driver's seat, you can feel the 'give' under your feet.

My apologies to those that think this is petty, but... too bad. Thanks anyway for participating.

For the cost of the truck I'd be asking the dealer for some correction.

Most dealers don't have internal upholstery shops, but hopefully they'll refer you to a good one and cover the bill.

It sounds like it may be either 'short' or pulled to tight. Hopefully a loosen and adjust would correct. Short would be a larger challenge, but not really require replacement if the adjustment can be made under seat.

I asked the same question on another forum. The loose fit with the gap is the same in other trucks. It just wasn't noticed before. I'll be asking the dealer on Friday.
