Anyone else have a maintenance light after 4000 miles?

Using cruise control on unrotated tires and 4500 mile old oil can severely damage your truck.

My maintenance light came on at 4550, taking it in next week for tire rotation and what ever else they do. I’m going to change the oil at 5000 miles. There is no way I’m going 10,000 miles on oil. I bought Toyota oil and filter since it is still under warranty. I did notice that a Toyota oil filter was about half the price of a Wix or Purolator filter. I’m thinking I might just use Toyota filters in the future and use either Gastrol or Mobil 1 oil. My feeling is that Toyota oil filters are probably pretty good.

5K is visual + wheel rotation

 

Nothing wrong with 10k if normal driving. I've been using the recommended mobil 1 extended service motor oil with the Toyota filter. Been doing the same on our 2012 prius. It still runs great at 110k miles.

Then there's a 3rd camp thats so paranoid they change their oil every 1k miles.

 

Don't forget the 4th camp that just trades it for a Ridgeline

The tires don't need to be rotated every 5K so when the light comes on I just make a visual that the oil if fine and look around under the hood. At 10k they can change the oil and rotate the tires.
They only want you in every 5K to upsell some not required but recommended stuff.
I read the maintenance schedule and never let them do anything more than required.
