I used to race BMX back in the late 70s on old school bikes. I really thought I was something else when I got a FMF frame and I ended up building a trophy winning bike. We broke just about everything on these bikes. Lots of good family and friends fun. Thanks for starting this post.

On the way home today from a road bike ride and I saw a group of 25- 30 BMX riders on the SD bayfront. I've seen 8-10 riders before, but never a group this large

570B3E5F-6B12-4B4B-B9A2-B222581D663E.jpg I’m sure it’s already on here but this is it after putting the correct pro class 48’s on. Something about this bike just speaks to me. I ride with my kids and dad just around the neighborhood and the people my age actually know what it is. The one I had as a kid was stolen, this one stays in my bedroom.

#13 for Shimano is Dave Clinton, that's Brent Patterson in the foreground, not sure who is behind him.

I take no credit to these images. This comes off old man Patterson's facebook page. The guy is a encyclopedia of bmx knowledge.

I have a few older Trials bikes, and had a friend recently that's looking for a GT project. 1994 Team Trials. And also snapped a quick pic of this 2001 GT/Hot Wheels bike while grabbing the trials bike from the storage garage.

Not exactly BMX, but has anyone tried trials riding?

    Love the HW bike.

Never did trials but I've seen some of the old BMX pros try it in a contest for BMX PLUS! many years ago

The weather forecast for Angels Camp CA this weekend is rain with temps between 35-55 degrees. So even though I love a good mud race, camping is definitely out. I may just go up and back on sat.

Got back into BMX in 2019, after about 18 years off. Was big into dirt jumping when I was younger, most heavily in around '99-00, already in my late teens at the time. My kids moved up to 20" bikes, and I got the itch again. Haven't found anything local to purchase that is "old school", but have gotten plenty of mid-school. Currently have a couple '99 Haro Supras and a 2000 Backtrail, a '96 Mosh Pro XL, a 2004 DK General Lee, and just picked up a '99 (I believe) Specialized Fatboy Hemi Comp 24" cruiser. 20211106_152606.jpg 20211007_203926.jpg

Same. When I was a kid, early 80’s, my grandparents always had GL hotwheel for me every time I visited. Holds a special spot in my heart

Never action figures just always a different car. That show was my jam and my grandparents fed my addiction

I used to race bmx as a kid for a few years at a local track. Would love to pick up a 24 or 26” cruiser

    Old school????? Not hardly.

He77, there are folks on TW, like me, that were doing "BMX" on our banana seat stingray bicycles in the '60s before BMX was a sport.

If you wanna go ol' school. Get yourself a banana seat stingray. Ride off dirt piles, across basement over digs, down into the basement then up and out the other side on ramps cobbled together from various 2X lumber bits. No pads, no helmets. Just a T-shirt, shorts and a pair of canvas tennis shoes. Play follow the leader. Mind the ramps, sometimes they collapse after the first rider or when you're on the ramp.
