Slowly getting around to reuploading all the BMX video I did between 2005 and 2011. Planning on knocking out a year (or half-year - did damn near 40 videos in 2010 and 2011) everyday for the next week or so. https://www.youtube.com/user/sjbmx

This relatively newer one doesn't really fit in with the rest (it never made it onto the web - it's an ad that was in Props 75), so I figure I'll link this one.

Skim read this thread and wished we had some sort of scene locally to me. I rode as a kid and then did a lot of hooning at college (late ‘90s) that others would not. Big drops, jumps, stairs, brick fences, etc. At that time I had a Schwinn Predator Pro with gold hubs and brake grabs that got stolen out of my dorm. I replaced it with another Predator Pro but all chrome/stainless/aluminum and BFR wheels…it was stolen 3 years later out of my grandfather’s storage shed on his farm next to my parent’s house. Thanks, local meth heads. It was never recovered. I have an older brother and he had the same bike but older, an XS Pro. He left my push mower at a townhouse he was renting when he moved so I confiscated his bike, this was maybe 10-12 years ago. His was previously stolen prior to me owning it. He was able to get it back after spotting it left for dead near his apartment complex and rattle canned black.

Although I have a history of stolen Schwinns, I want to get this last one back in shape as well as myself. The chrome on the rims have flaked severely and braking is questionable at best. Not looking at spending $200+ on a set of complete wheels, any good suggestions for rims? Quick search lead me to some Stranger Crux rims for sub $100.

Not too up on alloys really. I'm more of a trickster but I've gone with the Skyway Tuff Wheels on several of my bikes..one being the 86 Predator in my photos

What brakes are you running? My suspicion is a new cable, pads and adjustment is good enough

The wheels are completely flaked. New pads would definitely help.

Is it 36 or 48 spoke wheels, and are you just looking for rims, or complete wheels?

How bout a pic of the bike. That way we can see a before & after.

They do harden up over time. Plus the technology has improved.

Thanks for the replies and @mtip that reached out via PM. With the suggestions and questions I was able to figure out some things. I’m going to go with new pads and tires for now and as I get my legs back under me I’ll start some sort of restomod.

I have a set of flip flop 36’s with white tires I’d let go for $100 plus shipping.

We talking just rims or entire wheels? What part of TX? I do travel for work in WTX.
