My salesman said he liked how direct and decisive I was. He was telling me I was a dick and he was disappointed he couldn't up-sell me on things.

You just need to learn to talk sales staff. He didn't bother trying to tell me that the silver truck I was buying was a really rare and unique colour that he had to blow a supply manager to acquire for me.

Spoiler: your decision to go for the paint protection film and fabric stain guard was not the awe-inspiring decision of the year he made it out to be. That was another lie.

I think it is just something that you start to see more of because you have one/are more aware of the truck now.

Also, Toyota currently produces 100,000 Tacomas a year. That is about to be bumped up by around 60,000. You will probably start seeing quite a few more on the road.

    They do. I own one.

You'll only find them north of your boarder though.

Arizona is an awesome place to see Tacomas. Lots of all generations, due to zero rust issues. I would have to say the Tacoma is the most popular truck here. That is just looking with my eyes and absolutely zero scientific fact to back it up.

If you think Tacomas are common there, try living in Hawaii. Was at Home Depot today and there were 8 Tacomas in one parking isle. 3 third gens, and one of em happened to be another quicksand TRD. It's all good though, parts and accesories are going to be easy to come by.

Why would they be rare? lol They have been the market leader forever. Even so, who cares? I think it's great to see so many on the road.

I bought my 16 tacoma in august. MGM Access cab 4x4 SR5. I have yet to see another MGM one in all the driving around I do in Massachusetts. I do however see alot of 2nd gens in mgm. including my father that was jealous of my 16 so he went and bought a 15 access mgm 4x4. (he didnt want to spend the money on a new one)

Oddly, I saw a million of them before I bought mine, and rarely see any now.

Toyota is on pace to sell about 190,000 Tacomas in 2016. There are about 17 of them on the lot near my house last week.

If you see too many of them come to rural SW Iowa you hardly ever see 3rd gens here, but you will have to stay away from Des Moines though.

I don't think there's a more common vehicle in SoCal. I can be stopped at a light and there will likely be 2-3 other ones there with me. I'm even starting to see more 3rd gens than 2nd gens now.

If they only produce 100k how are they on pace to sell 200k this year alone?

Paint your hood dog peter pink and you will be different. And paint the body panels each a different color. That should do it.

    It's called "Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon."

    https://www.damninteresting.com/the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon/

"Baader-Meinhof is the phenomenon where one happens upon some obscure piece of information—often an unfamiliar word or name—and soon afterwards encounters the same subject again, often repeatedly. Anytime the phrase “That’s so weird, I just heard about that the other day” would be appropriate, the utterer is hip-deep in Baader-Meinhof."
