There's one I've had my eye on that keeps dropping in price on craigslist probably because it's 5 speed, waiting on the right time to jump on the deal.

Are you shitting me? What the fuck do you need, a 100 person research team from a prestigious English college to publish a 57 page research paper on the effect of EV ownership in Tampa area during a major storm?
If no one can provide you any level of information you don’t want to hear then it says more about your bias then anything else.
I’m sure you only believe research papers when it comes to how bad EVs are…

This whole forum is hearsay. It's a discussion. You don't need a peer reviewed study to see how people faired with an EV car. If you want white papers and peer reviewed studies you're better off not being on a forum.

What are you here for if not hearsay? If I ask what size tires I can put on my truck and someone answers, anecdotally, their experience I don't just scoff, call it hearsay, and look for someone to present a dissertation on the study of 265/75r17 Falken Wildpeaks and their relationship with a Tacoma wheel well.

I won't be buying any vehicle for a long time, my wife's 2014 Rav4 has under 40K and is close to paid for. My 2010 Tacoma is long ago paid for, just received a new frame and suspension this summer and only at 120K miles.

That said, I would never buy any kind of a GM vehicle as a daily regardless of EV or not. My 2006 Chevy Colorado puked the cylinder head (Google machine will show this was a common problem) and it was within the powertrain warranty plus the "secret" warranty they wrote on it, yet this took me 6 months because 2 dealers refused to fix it despite receiving approval from corporate unless I paid cash and took it up with the office. This "free" repair cost me almost $2000 and the dealer and corporate each say the other did me wrong but wouldn't honour it.

Knowing this, I damn sure will not trust anything fairly new from them in terms of technology..in addition to the heating up issues that have been discussed here.

Tire size is one thing, a statement like this "In the last big storm down south EV charging stations were some of the first non-emergency electricity provided" is something else. I simply asked for a link to back up the statement. Apparently it was a bunch of forum talk, not anything corroberated by a power company or government agency. Forum talk by EV owners patting themselves on the back for their purchase.

or forum talk with real owners

you only see what you want out of this, which is probably why you have said what you have. What’s the comment? “Only listen to what they want to hear”.

why do you think I told you to do your own research. I cannot provide a single confirmation source, so go read the comments, see if reasonable arguments were made or if it was all fanboi bs. But yet again, this is what you don’t want to hear so others have to hand deliver gold plated confirmed information.

You going to give us more links to trains and kids melting gas car batteries again to tell us how bad EVs are?

How about when you can make a coherent argument you get to contribute.
