I regret not getting the TRD sport.

But luckily it looks like an aftermarket one is attainable and cheaper than trading my off-road in.

Would you guys recommend the RK hood with the scoop?

I have a cement Tacoma and it doesn’t look like I’ll be getting many hits on the Hood Swappin’ thread anytime soon.

How did you off road guys obtain a sport hood?

How much should I expect to pay for paint if I go the RK route?

I would think it would be easy to get a scooped hood. Most people trading them are trying to get rid of the scoop. This will be your best bet because it's free. I'd go to a local reputable body shop that does paint and ask them roughly what it would cost to paint. Luckily, you have a 2018 so matching paint will be a breeze. Think at least a couple hundred bucks to get it painted.

I got the RK hood which has been sitting in my garage for about 9 months. They want $800 to paint it. Mine is red so other colors are probably cheaper. I guess I need to start a savings jar. Everytime I see a sport or pro with a scoop, put a dollar in.

Ouch. I'd camp in that hood swap thread, OP.

Sure, if you want to come to NM to get it. Don't know how much shipping would be on it.

I would not regret a whole vehicle due to one component that can be easily added anytime. I also would not buy a certain trim because of one component that’s on it. OR and Sport are very different trims in their own ways.

Something that is would be considered a regret is “I wish I got 4x4 instead of 4x2”...there no going back from that without a new vehicle or stupid rich money to transplant everything.

Is the skewp functional now or something, or do people still want them for the look? I still hate my skewp.

Hah. I'll wager money that my truck has seen 10x more off-road use than the average off-road poser on this forum. And I've yet to find a trail I wanted to do and couldn't. Have dropped more than a few jaws of guys driving JKs on 37's and with 20k in suspension work. Skoop power!
