I've had this happen when driving in a friends car, I believe it was the pressure that blew it out. Temp outside was really hot (100+) and the temp inside was nice and cool (AC was working great). Nothing hit the window and we were just driving along and the darn thing exploded.

Maybe it could have something to do with this

Front passenger window blew out in November. Local police took a report, but never caught the guys that did it. Recovered some of my property later, though.
Otherwise, I do all my own damage.

I'm going to be on windshield #4 soon. Love New England roads.

But, one time I was pulling out a huge shrub and was using a tow strap. It let loose, came at the truck and the metal hook bounced off my soft tonneau like it was a trampoline and smacked into the rear slider. Not even a mark!

I have a 2013, closed my door today and the back sliding window shattered?!?! I expect Toyota to replace it under warranty or this will be the last one I own, clearly there is a problem with the glass, that should not happen.

Cracked my windshield at 3k miles. It's weird because I've never cracked one before but that's just more of bad luck on my part.

That sucks. I used to live in an area where it was usually 100+ outside and I've always blasted my AC. Now I live in an area where it can get close to 0-20+ and I blast the heat. Never once cracked a window :notsure:

I bounced a piece of firewood off the left side of my rear window just today while loading the bed. I was SURE it was going to break the glass, but it just bounced off with no damage whatsoever.
    Go figure...

No glass issues as far as shattering. My suggestion would be, when you get it replaced make sure the company is using OEM glass and not some cheap product to save a buck.
