I'm the opposite. Coming back to 4wheels after riding almost exclusively for over a decade, all the beeps, bongs, and blinkies, and shiny BS had me conflustered, looking for the solitude of the helmet.

For the bike, just get in the habit of hitting the cancel every so often. From there, it becomes even more natural to hit it after a turn.

my scion ia had an option for low/high volume turn signals. might be possible to change the volume via Techstream.

I've seen the turn signal volumes be adjustable with OBDII devices like Carista on other vehicle models, but not sure about 3rd gen Tacomas in particular, so I can't say for certain. I'd definitely say ask someone who's really fluent in Techstream.

I think the noise level is just right on the Tacoma.

On a related note, many people are clueless as to the purpose of turn signals. Case in point, as I proceeded to drive straight through an intersection a jeep wrangler that was waiting to turn right from a perpendicular street just decided to go and pulled out right in front of me. I laid down on my horn and when we got to a stopping point several feet ahead the guy got out of his jeep and said, "what's the problem, I had on my turn signal." I informed the moron that a turn signal does not negate the requirement to yield to traffic that has the right of way. Needless to say, he would not accept that he was in the wrong. And therein lies the underlying issue, lack of personal responsibility & accountability.

My first car had a very clever little feature that can help us all out here.

My POS fleetwood d'hoopty had these funny little cowls on the hood:

    upload_2022-6-7_11-2-13.jpg

On the backside of those cowls were three little indicator lights that were pointed directly towards the driver. From memory, I think that they were just colored fiber optic cables that tied directly into the backside of the bulbs; blue for brights, white for headlights, and yellow for turns. They not only told you what was on or blinking without having to lower your eyes, but they also told you at a glance if you had a burnt/nonfunctioning light. Say what you will, but Cadillac knew their audience, and that both the elderly and the chronically stoned would need helpful reminders on what their indicators were doing. And it was indeed very helpful. :anonymous:

Now, how difficult would it be to run some fiber optics to the backside of your scoop? Seems like there is an easy mod potential there!!

yea, and so many things can be changed via the head unit, why the f..k does that one have to be done at the dealer?
i asked once when i was in for the free oil change and they said a different tech had to do that and did not seem willing to do it.

They may not care about us in particular, but they certainly care about selling us service, and making that change was something they could have charged for. If dealers didn't care about service and parts they wouldn't survive long. Parts and service, according to NADA, are on average about 44% of a dealer's gross profit. Next is F&I and service contracts at 37%. Sales is not the money maker at a dealership, so to say they have your money after the sale and don't care any more may be the way the sales person feels, but not your service writer or the parts manager. You just got a bad service writer that didn't want to be bothered.

What’s most dumb about this is if he was to your right and signaling a right turn, you couldn’t have possibly seen the signal.

Didn't you know that having your turn signal on clears all traffic and makes cars in your path disappear? :)

Actually, the real underlying issue is not a lack of personal responsibility or accountability, it's the simple fact that there is just an incredible number of stupid people out there. It never even dawns on them that they should be responsible or accountable for their actions.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
Be careful what you wish for! My 2021 Challenger had the loudest turn signal noise I have ever heard. Absolutely annoying as hell!

Part of the reason I gave the car to my youngest daughter..lol
