I got mine done and have not really noticed a difference. I haven't driven the truck a lot since I got it because I went on a vaca. It drives pretty much the same as it did before.

I took my taco in for an oil change today, when the dealer called to tell me my truck was ready they informed me they went ahead and did some recall work (without my consent). I can't stand when they don't tell you ahead of time what they are planning on doing, now my pedal looks like someone used a pocket knife to trim the pedal.

Tell them you want the new style pedal and not that hacked one.

So .... are you saying that before they cut it (the pedal) it was longer than your penis?

I don't know yet. I had 3 sticky notes of things that need to be fix. So I'll probably get it back end of this coming week.

They cut mine when I took it in for an alignment without telling me they were going to do that. Pissed me off too. I don't even notice a difference honestly, but it really irritated me that they did it without my permission.

To top it off, I think they failed at the alignment.

Crazy rationale: Toyota will deny any and all responsibility anyway.

UNTIL you hire a lawyer and a highly credentialed accident investigator to PROVE them at fault.

Actually....If you tell them not to cut the pedal, you have to sign a waiver.
A guy I work with had to sign a waiver after telling them not to cut the pedal.
So....signing that waiver can remove Toyota from any responsibility.

THAT would be really aggravating part. Apparently there is major misunderstanding on the dealer's part with this since I understand they are supposed to inform the customer first...you have the right to opt out.

They will also take your all-weather mats away and give you new safe ones; some people have said their dealers even took aftermarket mats away. They are supposed to give them back if you ask but again, some dealers claim they can't do it!

Lotsa confusion on part of the dealers AND the customers.

All this crap for what's essentially just a PR thing since the NTSB largely concluded drivers were to fault for the run-away acceleration problems.

Got the taco back today and I do NOT notice a difference in the pedal. they DID give me the new pedal like I requested. The tranny DOES shift smoother now and is much nicer.

What did you have done that is making the transmission shift smoother?

When they do the reflash of the computer for the brake over ride they do all of the system updates and the transmission shifting is one of them.

I also noticed that my trans shifts ALOT smoother. I got a chopped pedal but they ordered a new one for me after I told them I was unhappy with the cut job. :D

Brunswick Toyota did mine and I don't notice a difference.Pedal looks fine. Can't even tell it was cut.WeatherTech mats were still in the truck.I think statements that it is all PR is bullshit. No company recalls millions of vehicles and pays tens of millions in fines as a PR move. Its free,Toyota thought it was necessary,so what the hell.It didn't have anything to do with whether I can get the truck stopped or not.
