the rest of America views Cali like the rest of the world views America. or like America views France. i would never visit france because of the people, just like i'd never visit Cali or New York because of the people that live there. like it or not you guys have a reputation. lots of californians may be cool but the freaks that you do have ruined your reputation.

I lived in SoCal from 95-04 and left during the ridiculous housing bubble. Back to the east coast where I have a better home, schools and jobs. If CA would think about providing for a middle class they'd be a lot better off. I do however, miss the surfing, beach and great weather and recreation. But for kids, it's not a great place.

You're kidding, right? You would never visit France? Well you can hand me your ticket because I'd go to Southern France anyday. I have friends from there who would put some of the rednecks I knew back in TN to shame. Reputation isn't exactly based in reality. Once you leave the major cities in Cali, it turns rural reaaallll quick. I have buddies out in the sticks here. We race lawn mowers, drink beer, BBQ, and so on. I'd say about the only part of Cali I've been in that has a large quantity of people I don't care for is Silicon Valley. Its this whole fake atmosphere. Its hard to describe. Most people there seem to be driven to make lots of money.

i wouldn't go to france if it were free. i'd love to visit cali but not any of the populated areas. same with new york, i know there are lots of great places in NY but the stereotype of the new york city fast talkers makes me not like the entire state. just like i'm sure lots of people dont wanna visit SC cause we're all a bunch of inbred confederates with 3 teeth and a 6th grade education. every state has its own reputation.

I asked Bob (not really), and checked the forum rules (another lie), and it clearly states it does not.

So... you guys seriously wouldn't go to France because of what you perceive of them? I'm sorry, but that has got to be some of the dumbest things I've read in awhile. France is a beautiful place. They have great food, wine, culture, scenery, and cities. Same with NYC. I wouldn't want to live there in account of the weather and the expense, but I've been there 3 times at its a great city. Lots of good food, cool buildings and museums, interesting cultures and ethnic groups and so on.

Don't shortchange your experience just because there might be a few people there who might not agree with you or your views. I can guarantee there are several who don't agree with you that live on your very block.

Same goes for people from NYC who think the South is full of redneck hillbillies. The same is true for us to.

I have no desire to go there. Plenty of other places in the world for me to see that have what you listed.

Well, suit yourselves. Kind of ashame though. I should introduce you all to my friend from there. He'd get a kick out of hearing that you all think that EVERYONE in France is loonie and liberal. He and his family definitely wouldn't associate themselves with liberals.

I never once said they were all loonie, or liberal.

i'm sure the country is nice, but its full of french, and i hate the french as much as they hate me. i know i'd come across some cigarette smoking little bastard and i'd "go America all over his ass" and next thing you know i'm in jail. plus, i dont care to see anything in europe, not my cup of tea. i'd like to go to ireland and germany but other than that nothing in europe seems interesting. Actually, Italy would probably be pretty fun.

i agree, there are too many places i really want to see, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Japan, Vietnam.... tons of places i'd go before France. plus, most of the "attractions" in france seem to be city based. i hate cities, where ever i go i want to go to unpopulated areas. i'm more interested in geographic beauty than manmade stuff.

from what i can tell most of fance is full of loonie liberals. i'm sure there are exceptions but not enough for me to warrant going over there.

back in high school alot of my friends got foreign exchange students. we had two frenchies come over. a dude and a chick. he was a huge pussy and she was a bitch and no matter how nice we tried to be they were snobby and just kept to themselves speaking frenchie talk and laughing at us. we also got some german exchange students and those guys adn girls were absolutely fun as shit!

X2....again....dammit. :anonymous: Wife and I pretty much have identical feelings as far as Fance, and our over seas itinerary pretty much mirrors what you listed....I hope we dont run into each other.
