So my transmission always waits as long as possible before downshifting from 3rd to 2nd.

For example say I'm going 50mph in 4th gear then slow down to 4 or 5mph, the truck will downshift to 3rd gear but won't shift any lower. Only when I come to almost a complete stop will it downshift to 2nd, then 1st.

Anybody experience this before or have any advice?

That's normal, from factory they wanted it to be smooth and you not feel it shifting down from a higher gear to a lower gear as to not feel the drag of the lower gear.

Although I could be wrong, I haven't driven your truck :D
