I bought the double cab because I think they look better and the extra room comes in handy to haul guns during hunting season.

And I believed it when I read it in the "pretend to have a 4Runnner" thread...I'm such a sucker.

Or someone is jerking our chain.

I guess it is a southern thing then :) Here the ladies love them, compliment them and even buy them and lift them, put tires, etc! (for looks, not real usable rigs of course) Like I said, probably a coon-ass thing but i'll take it! LOL! EXAMPLE... I have been in physical therapy since my accident and surgeries last January. My therapist is 30 years old, the hottest specimen anyone has ever seen and she always loved my truck. Her, her mother and her brother have bought new (2015) Tacomas sense, her husband bought a Tundra. (sell out! :) ) True story!

"...with a V8" sounds like your also a jeeper. I have been a jeeper for over 20 years. As much as I love my Tacoma, still a jeeper, I am still always playing with them. Get a '81-'83 CJ-8 with full hard top and find a 1978 CJ-7. That was only year and model jeep ever offered the AMC 401 V8, the T-18 tranny with Dana 300 all gear transfer case and optional Dana 44's front and back and do a transplant! Never have extra space or power problems again!

Maybe I'm just dreaming :) If ya pull it off, for sure let me know!

Not to get away from the Toyota thread.. But I also buy, sell, and collect classic cars.. One of the best vehicles for going over crazy terrain is a stock 4 cylinder model A with the wood 20" wheels:anonymous:

I sort of bought double cab because "I may need it one day". I have no kids now, but eventually probably will - plus I want to use this thing for road tripping and be able to take friends and family with me. I was also influenced by a member here posting something about how "you can't go back and add a double cab later or add a foot of bed space, if you think there is any chance you will ever need or want it... GET IT". I was considering saving money and picking up an access cab, but so glad I decided against it and went with the double.

If you trade up every few years anyways, it wouldn't be as big of a decision. If you bought your Tacoma with the plan of owning it until it falls apart or the engine won't run, I say get the DC. I plan on having this truck for a long time.

You SUCK! :) So whats with the Dana 35 on the YJ?

    (j/j, You know I am just jealous :) )

looks like an '87, but I KNOW you would have mentioned the 4.2... what year is it? seriously though, that is awsome! you ever consider mounting the leafs on top?

HELL NO ON THE LEAFS, your just making it turn over easier! Its a 88 yj, with tj fender flares, a Dana 30 with posi. engage, and a Ford 8.8 posi. rear axle with 4 wheel disk brakes, and a AX15 trans. with the 4.2 lower, and it has a 4.0 milled upper on it which raises it to a 4.7, everything that's black including interior, and the under is bed linered. My wife has orders when I die, were both to be put in the car crusher at the junk yard, and buried in the pasture!

OK, THAT MEANS YOU SUCK EVEN MORE! :) ...because you have it and not me! :)

j/j with you, that is a work of art man. Sorry, it looked like a 35 axle in front. That jeep was planned and put together like a work of art! It must have taken years! As far as the leafs, ya it's a taboo subject, I guess I am on the above axle team. Swapping an OEM 4 pack with a 70's 6 pack and putting on top you get about 6"s of lift depending on the axle you have and get less drag and some more clearance in mud. Down here thats what we usually always played in unless we went to like North Louisiana, or Texas and played in sand dunes and wash outs and rocks and stuff. Ya, unless you use wider axles, if you play on steep trails, putting leafs above is probably not the best.

I know this is our Tacoma World, but I have to ask, whats the next project for the jeep :)

That's what im talking about! I miss my 89 islander every weekend in the summer when I head to the beach house. The taco does just fine on the sand trails but it is no substitute for top down cruising.

Why you need a doublecab for that? Unless you're getting hitched up with a woman who already has kids, its going to take more than the life of the truck for the kids to outgrow an access cab. The only difficult part during raising of kids from zero, is the backwards facing babby seat, which isn't so much of a problem unless you have twins. Its pretty easy to build a platform in the middle to fit a backwards facing seat for the 0-1 age range.

    +1

when I go camping alone, it is nice to have that extra space for me to throw everything such as blankets, pillows, shoes, socks & other personal hygiene items inside the cab.

I've owned both. The look of the double cab sb says to me "too much cab, not enough bed." That's my opinion, and apparently others...the nicest thing about the AC trucks is they are moderately rare.

After owning a few DCSB I also would rather have the bed length instead of 4 full size doors. I've never had any children but I have been married and divorced and hardly anyone has ever sat in the back seats. For me an Access Cab just fits my needs better.

I posted the other comment back on Dec 11th, so for me it is without a doubt ACFTW.
