I'm moving tomorrow and though I'm sure I'll quickly figure out which option is more spacious, I wanted to know if anyone had made use of their flip down back row. What is it really for? It doesn't seem to serve much purpose other than protecting your seats if you have cloth, (Aside from the back panel access of course).

    All comments welcome!

Yes. They work pretty good, no complaints. I had an air compressor back there. I didn't want the feet of it to dent up (or even tear) my back fabric so I layed the seats forward and put it on the back of them.

I did this when I had to park the truck and go into the DMV, and didn't want some ne'r-do-wells stealing my equipment. I hauled the compressor in the bed of the truck otherwise.

It's great for hauling the dog around. It's much easier to clean dog hair and dirt from the hard plastic seat back than it is to get the wet dog smell out of cloth seats.

Awesome, I sympathize with trying to keep things out of the bed. As for dog hair, it doesn't get everywhere else and in the back panel?

So, does anyone know which way is best for just boxes?

I use the bed and storing the headrests is a bit of a drag when laying the seats flat

In my experience from moving with boxes and plastic totes it has been more effective to leave the seats up as you get the room in the floor boards for loose items. It might have been different if I packed it differently but this has worked the best for me in my last four moves.

My wife does wedding cakes for a living. Usually we deliver them out of the SUV, but sometimes we have so many deliveries that I use the Taco to help out. I had two wedding cakes on non skid on the fold flat seats. Works perfectly. I could probably do 3 cakes if I needed to. I wish I had taken a picture.

I guess I've never really used that feature. I forgot that the seats did that. Now I feel like there is something new in my truck. :D

After discovering (Or, remembering) I could flip my seats down, when I flipped them back up I just left the headrests. Much better in the rearview.

Darn, won't get to utilize them. Oh well! Thanks

That's pretty cool, I wish I had a utility for mine like that.

I felt the same way just last week. Lol

Well, true, but I wouldn't let a passenger ride without sliding them back in. That'd probably be a bit rude as it would be uncomfortable, and the headrests would no longer have a place to sit if someone were using the seat.

The front seat seems to be a nice food tray, has anyone noticed?

Isn't the bed the whole point of a pickup truck?

Yes, but if you go into a store or park in the driveway at night you don't really want expensive and unattached equipment in there. Toolbags, a compressor like someone else said, lawn equipment, etc... Most thing you can properly secure, but not everything. Now for driving, heck, put everything in there!

I take the back seats off if I need lots of space. Just a few bolts and it gives you about 1/3 more storage. Very useful for larger boxes that would otherwise not fit.

Has that ever left you in a predicament where you needed the seats?

The head rests insert into the seat bottom when the seat back is flipped down.

I always used to lay the seats flat for the dog. Kept the fur off the seats.

A feature i wish were on the trd seats. I had base seats in mine (the guy i bought the truck from put them in bc of a small tear in the original side of the seat but i swapped them back and sold the base seats) i used it as a laptop table when i sold insurance.
