I work with a lot of live aboards. Biggest complaint is always laundry. Typically you'll spend more on things to make it more living friendly rather than partying friendly. It's definitely a live and learn experience. I've thought about it many times, especially with housing prices here in Seattle. With a boat big enough to live on, 40-50', you'll be spending 150k + on the boat, and probably 15-20k in repairs and upgrades, plus 500-900 in moorage fees per month, here at least

I have a 50' houseboat that I purchased cheap and completely remodeled. It was cheap because it didn't run, but I removed the engines and turned that space into storage. I love living on the water, and i don't have a house payment, Just a slip fee, which is cheap living.

When I was 14 my parent's marriage was in trouble, we ended up having to live on a 1976 C&C 33. I completely sucked ass. A 33 foot boat with 5 people living on it. That was one shitty year.
