Have you considered trading the truck for a Prius?

Personally, I believe Tacoma looks A LOT BETTER without. And that's more important to me than possibly saving 0.5 mpg.... maybe.

If you have junk yards in your area, you could check their inventories. Best thing to do is to call them up and ask. You could get one for about $10 I bet.

You are correct. I do not have interest in wheeling. I average my mpg because of my trips are basically 95% highway at 65 - 70 mph. Although traffic does hit me quite often, so speeds are reduced 50 - 55 mph a lot.

Mine is off forever. I had to cut the part of the stock front bumper that it screws onto to put my steel bumper on, so I couldn't put it back on if I wanted to.

I feel it was worth the trade-off :)

^This. It is easy to do an oil change without it. I took mine off after my 1st oil change.

I believe some people tested this out on the Colorado and they found 1 MPG better and 1 MPG worse although I can't remember which is which between city and highway driving.

Tacomas are cool. Priuses are cool too. The “trail/wheeling/my bulging pants will rip that ugly piece of plastic off” stuff is variable. I’ve thrashed my truck and underbelly and the air dam just springs back after I get off the rocks.
NB: Enjoy the apocalyptic air in the first pic!
