I'm at 20k miles on my 2017 TRDOR and about two months ago I noticed a squeak/squeal at idle. It's especially noticeable next to a wall, where the sound really reverberates (obviously).

I took it to the dealer (warranty) and they reported back that all engine sounds were normal.

It's now to the point that it's driving me nuts.

I'm sure this isn't an easy thing to pinpoint but my 20k truck sounds like an old banger with rusty pulleys! I can hear it through the dash. I can't imagine this truck is supposed to sound like this.

Does anyone have any advice? I moved towns, so I'm going to take it to the dealer here and see if they'll give me a little more of their effort than the big city dealer but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

The sound occurs at running temp while at idle.

    Thanks all.

Yep, sounds like that. Mine was horrible, then mysteriously went away (always filled up at the same gas station) and never returned for months before I sold the truck. Others say theirs won't stop chirping.

Depending on what you're talking about it could either be some weird noises from when the AC compressor kicks on, or your brake booster. I thought my belt was squeaking too until I really focused on where the noise was coming from.

Mine comes and goes, it is most noticeable when I pull up near a building

Definitely not the AC because it happens when the AC is off.

Just curious, why do you specifically single this part out?

Did you get the belts and pulleys replaced specifically because of the chirping? Warranty?

Could be your hpfp. Next time tho when you're creeping along in drove, pump the brakes and tune your ears kinda by the firewall so if that's your noise.

Holy typos. "In drive" " see if that's your noise"

Because it is a known issue, sounds like crickets chirping. There are quite a few threads on it here, I think maybe I read something about the same issue in a Scion too.

Apparently you have to buy Lexus to get this fixed under warranty. Apparently the same problem on those HPFPs but they are actually fixing them (allegedly) vs. telling folks to deal with it which is what's happening on the Tacos

yeah! I brought it in and the service desk person swore they couldn't hear it, they had it in the shop for literally 30 seconds and came back and said they were going to replace both those for free under warranty, so if you're in warranty go in and mention it!

Most likely the HPFP in your truck too.
