Kings, JBA's, Dakars, Prinsu Rack, ARB, Trail gear sliders... and rust

So noticed these today...

The tires (255/85's) are about 3 years old with around 20k on them and I'd say 50% tread left. Overall I've been happy with them and they're not loosing air, just curious what the probable cause is? Over inflation? Dry rot would seem unlikely as they've been on the truck this whole time.
