Dude tried to run me yesterday in one of these. He cheated and jumped from about 4 cars up to start the race. I beat the brakes off his ass but after a little research he’s supposed to have 50 more hp & torque than me. I understand it’s a freaking Hyundai but numbers?

you're talking about the genesis coupe? if it's the 3.8 V6, it depends on which model year you're talking about. Up to 2012, they made about 312hp/266 lb-ft. afterwards they upgraded the 3.8 to have 348 hp/295 lb-ft.

They're pretty okay cars. I wouldn't call them super fast by any means but an okay inexpensive sports car. Then again, generally the folks who you see in them have overinflated the car's capabilities.

It was a 16 with the fake vented hood, I know that much. For what it is it’s fairly respectable. I didn’t like the fact that he cheated, lost, and tried to race again through city streets. I have spent a lot on performance upgrades for my car and probably would have wrecked that piece of shit out if he beat me. Joke by the way

Even stock my car runs .4 faster in the quarter and .2 faster to 60. Those are 10 years different cars and 50hp on his side. It has bigger numbers but doesn’t put them to the ground. I’ve added 50 to mine. I sucked that Hyundai up like Dom in fast in furious

I think they would be awesome compete with Miata. The Miata will kill it in handeling but it would make up for it in the straight

lol. He probably was sad that he was beat by someone at all because, again, overinflated sense of what the car is capable of doing.

A Porsche vs a Genesis is not a thing I would compare. I'd take a Porsche even if the Genesis had higher numbers. the Porsche just feels so much better put together. (I've driven both brands. I even drove the very first Hyundai Genesis model that came out in Korea way back in the mid 2000s. The luxury car, not the sports coupe).

That said, I'd agree with you. the Genesis would better be suited against the Miata crew. Or the 370/350z crew. Not necessarily something to hang with the Germans. But then again, Genesis tries to hang with the German crew more so than they do with anyone else. It is cool to see that the upstart Genesis (by numbers) can almost stick with your Cayman though.

I’ve been happily married for 15 years but I’m just saying, no matter who wins that race, who gets the attention of the females? The one in the rebadged Hyundai or the one with the Porsche? I’ve never used my car to pick up girls because I can’t afford the girls my car picks up

I like to see less expensive brands compete with the “elite”

Classic example then. Genesis. Their newest lineup is more luxury oriented and is very well equipped but it's a super tough market to crack. Badge snobbery aside, Genesis has some great cars.

LOL. The Telluride is well appointed. Looks funny to me though. I had a 2011 Kia Optima. Thing was way faster than it got credit for. But definitely was still a Kia. I switched to Tacoma and haven't looked back since. except for fuel economy. lol.

Yeah. the 4R, Tundra, and Taco all consistently hold top spots for resale. Can't beat them.
