    Hi -

I am in the quest for a nice Gen1 V6 MT. Came across this one:

    https://www.npmotorspdx.com/vehicle...manual-truck-ed7aeee282274c32b31cfb88a559f9ae

I reached out to them to get some more information but while waiting thought I would see if TW had any expereince with them.

Price is steep but seems like well maintained Gen1s are commanding good price based on what I have seen on BringATrailer.

Just curious if anyone has dealt with this dealer before.

    Thanks!

    David

p.s. - I don't have enough postings yet to post a "Wanted to Buy" but if anyone has a nice Gen1 (ideally a 2004) that they are looking to sell, please let me know.

Specifically looking for a V6, manual transmission with a 4.10 gear ratio.

I bought an 2001 with 210xxx same everything as the one pictured paint is not as good but I paid less than half that price for a really clean well maintained gen 1 in Portland

I would find a private seller

it took about 6-8 months of watching Craigslist before finding the right one

    Don't know the seller.
That price is a tick high. Mid or maybe upper teens sounds more reasonable.
Missing front mudflap... but looks nice from low-res photos.

That price is $10K overpriced for the mileage. Try Craigslist.

    I wouldn't pay over 12-13k for that

It would have to be under 100k miles to ask over 20

Crazy. Could have bought it new, kept it for 20 odd years running errands and sold it for the same price. That looks like a pretty nice one, though.

That said, the undercoating looks a little suspect to me, especially in that front-end pic and I don't love all the oxidation on the aluminum castings. I'm headed to Portland tomorrow. I could try and check it out for you if you wanted.

Kinda corny when the tech writes the t-belt mileage on the cover. Looks like crayon. Just use the sticker that comes in the kit or leave it alone. If I got my vehicle back from a shop and they wrote on my cover like that I'd be pissed.

Not big deal, just sayin haha

Also might need a brake flush :D

I'm seeing some rusty small hose clamps over by the brake master cylinder, maybe fuel or evap lines. Is there more rust underneath? The frame and LCAs kinda have a suspicious coated look

Other than that it does look really clean. Just too much for a 25 year old truck with no warranty

OP you may want to target '01 & '02 Tacomas instead. The '03 & '04 trucks have an Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) that can fail and require an entire throttle body replacement. These throttle bodies were available from Toyota a few years back but I'm not sure they still are. Without a replacement throttle body you wouldnt be able to get the truck out of limp mode. Pre '03 trucks didn't have this problem at all. This is coming from an '03 owner (I have a brand new OEM throttle body waiting on the shelf in my shop for when this problem rears its ugly head).

Good luck using the rear bumper as a step with that much armor all. Way overpriced imo. A lot of aluminum corrosion too.

I just noticed they stuck the rain guards to the outside of the truck… im pretty sure they slide into the window channel

I personally wouldn’t get this one. I bought my 04 DC 4x4 for 20k a few months back, it had 75k miles and I thought even that price was pushing it, this truck has over 150k, they’re asking way too much.

I haven't had an experience with that dealer, but their posted prices seem high. My wife and I will someday get an FJ Cruiser, and we found one at a Toyota dealer recently with 80k miles on it for $29k. They are asking $44k for one with 68k miles, and while that is low miles, it seems high to me vs others I've seen locally in the PNW.
However, if that truck is the holy grail that you're looking for, can always negotiate with them. Worst they say is "no".

It’s not quite the holy grail and I live in SE Indiana so a bit of a hike . But willing to travel for the right one. Ideally from CA or AZ

I'm from AZ originally and have bought a few new and used vehicles in the PNW now since moving here 5 years ago. I feel there's definitely a lower bar on overall used vehicle condition up here, at least on Japanese cars, trucks and motorcycles in my price range. I've already decided the next used vehicle I purchase will focus strictly on searches in the SW.
