I picket up a new 2016 4x4 off road. I've been feeling hesitations shudder at certain low speeds. It's always below 50 and drives smooth as butter at hwy speeds.

It feels like torque converter shutter and I can duplicate it. It seems to only happen when in the final gear and just on the gas enough to maintain speed. It almost like its in too high of a gear for the speed and should be in a lower gear. If I press the gas more the truck will downshift and not shudder.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Its not converter shutter as in it slipping. Its the engine bucking due to the low lock up speed. My G8 does the same thing with a cam and big stall. I only lock in 6th gear and above 50mph now.

Its comparable to trying to drive a manual in too high of a gear.

Well kinda glad to hear everone is else is feeling this. Now is it normal? I dropped mine off with toyotoa the other day really worried about low tranny fluid. The tech had the truck and I couldn't pick it up until that night and they closed at 6. So they keys were left the the receptionist and I don't knw what he did, but I still feel the bumps/shudder, but no where near as bad. Ill find out today and post back. The bump and all is still there though.

I have experienced this shudder too, it does feel like the transmission has shifted into a gear that is too high for the road speed and the engine and drive line are working hard to keep up. I dint know if this is a problem or not but I'm glad it's not just me.

I have also noticed that when I come to a full stop, after about a second or two of being completely stopped, I feel and hear a slight "thud" from the rear end. I'm not sure what it is or if it is normal but I would love to hear if anyone else has noticed this.

Yes, I have noticed this as well. Took it to the dealer, the "master tech" told me it was normal and they all drive like this. :frusty: The other two I test drove (and spent more time with prior to purchase unfortunately) didn't seem to have the issue. But I still may have not spent enough time in them to notice.

Yes, notice this as well. People love to tailgate around here and early on I constantly thought I was getting rear-ended/bumped at lights.

Sorry, I'm dense - the lock in 6th gear above 50 mph is for your Tacoma or for your G8?

The driveline bump at a stop is very normal known thing. It's nothing to worry about. This rumble bumping hesitation lock up etc can't be normal! I've got a buddy who is a master tech at Lexus he is very good and I'm going to let him drive the truck and give me his opinion.

I still haven't heard back from Toyota as to what they did to the truck the other night.

I have it on occasion. Not something I would take to the dealer.

This isn't on occasion. It's everytime I drive the truck.

I haven't noticed this in my DCSB OR, but I only have about 500 miles on it now. Is it something really noticeable, or something I'll need to pay close attention to?

Sounds plausible... I remember the days of lugging a manual on flat or slight downhill with little throttle and getting the bucking sensation.
Course then that's a whole different topic. The transmission is shifting into to high of a gear and/or not shifting out of it when it should.

Yes I have noticed this as well. I also noticed this in my 2001 Tacoma.
I knew someone who got a brand new gen2 Tacoma and had this as well.

People say it is from the slip yoke and to pump grease into it.

Some say it's axle wrap. Maybe axle wrap and slip yoke go hand in hand? Axle wrap hard on drive line components.

Some say leaf spring fanning and to put on additional clamps.

I feel the slight shutter at lower speeds as well. I agree that it feels like it's in too high of a gear. When I use ECT though, it really isn't noticeable.
