I was averaging 13.4 all city stop & go, and the best of 21.5 on the highway using regular gas. About 6 months ago when the price of gas went down I decided to run premium for a while and see if it helped. Let me tell you, it helped! I now get an average of 15.8 around town, and 22.5 on the highway. Towing mileage went up too.

I dont drive to save fuel milage. I speed every where I go. hard on the gas hard on the brakes. That being said I was getting 19 -19.4 highway or city. I put in the AFE pro dry and ran a tank through it. The next three tanks I went through I got 20.3 20.9 20.6 I have not changed my driving style. If anything I was driving a little harder to get the RPMs up for the first few days.

Did you take out the non removable thin filter behind the regular filter?
(Hopefully you know what I mean)

I have been using a scanguage and keeping my gas receipts to manually track in an excel sheet. I routinely get 20-22mpg on the highway.. for a combined city/hwy economy of about 19.5. I have an '09 DC LB Sport. I haven't changed the stock air filters yet either.. so I'll post more detailed info when I do.

I am consistently getting between 20.1 and 20.5MPG for mostly city driving (85%). Of course I accelerate slower than an old lady in a Lincoln. DCLB.

I have an 08 4x4 DC with a cap and just took a road trip last weekend. Got 20.1 MPG highway driving an average of 75 MPH using 87 octane pump gas. The last time I checked my daily commuting driving I was getting 19.5 MPG, and that's a blend of city and highway driving.

I can get 20.5 on a trip routinely, holding the speed at 65-70, and watching the ScanGuage. That GPH meter is a great tool! '09 DC TRD Off-Road, with a camper shell. Keeping the Yakima racks off the shell is good for 1 mpg. Mileage around town is in the 17-18 mpg range, and way less if I'm towing the TT.

If anyone is still using a Palm device, such as the Tungsten, Linkesoft makes a great little application called Automobile, wherein one can track costs for a number of vehicles. Tracks current mpg, as well as mpg over the driving life of the vehicles, costs per mile, etc.

I've never gotten 20. If I baby it ridiculously (under 2k rpm), the best I have gotten is 19.8. hwy. or city. I used to try and get 20+ but have never been able to. So I just say screw it and drive it the way she likes to be driven.

To be fair.. at least in my experience so far, it will take you a few tanks of gas to get the scanguage tuned in to your car, but it certainly does work. It keeps a pretty accurate accounting of your fuel economy. You just need to add a guage to it to track your economy for the tank. There is another forum in here that gives you the 'add a guage code' for it.

Pure highway get me a reliable 20-21/gallon with a 2008 sport 4-door long bed.
if there is any mix of stops or too much traffic, it will dip under 20...
sorry for the late reply ;-)

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

I have a 2009 SR5, TRD, Crew, SB, Taco with 800 miles on it now. (2WD)

Checked mileage (some interstate) mostly city driving with light foot = 18.7 to 18.9 mpg.

When broken in and with synthetic fluids ... this truck should push 20 mpg in light city driving.
