Ok , let me see if I have this correct

We get it, you don't care about your mileage, the rest of us do, go away.

    ^This.

I don't see why this is so hard to understand. They didn't buy the truck to get good fuel economy, they bought the truck because they needed it...so why not try and get the best mileage they can with it?

Well done by those who are getting 20+.

LOL Few people NEED a truck. If people are sweating an extra 2 MPG out of a tank they should have bought the 4 CYL. Far more economical in many ways. I wonder how many have a tow hitch that actually used it. How many really needed the Spring TSB because they carry 600LBs in the bed. Many fear a scratch or ding........in the bed.

Just got my best city mileage, 20.4, mainly by just starting slow, shifting early, and trying to make very gradual speed changes. I'm very happy as my last truck (Dakota) got 14 in the city on a good day.

This attitude/idea is one of the most annoying ones on this site. I can't try and get better gas mileage?

I bought a Tacoma because I wanted a truck and don't need a full size. I got a 4x4 because we get just enough snow that I want to be sure and make it to work. I also go over our mountain passes multiple times during the winter. I got a V6 because from my test drives the 4 cyl is a dog and when I put 4 people in it, 2 adults and 2 kids and load it up with gear ... the mileage was similar and the 4 cyl is boring as hell to drive.

So I want the truck to perform when I need it. When I don't need it to perform I want to get the best MPG possible. I drive 80 miles round trip to work and back everyday.

Why does it bug some people when others try and get good MPG? People mod the shit out of their stereos, they mod the shit out of their trucks for off road performance, some mod the shit out of them for interior comfort.

Why is MPG the black sheep? And, why do you give a fuck?

    @ 17 MPG my 30k miles a year will be $6,615.00 figuring $3.75 /gallon

    @ 21 MPG my 30k miles a year will be $5,357.00 figuring $3.75 /gallon

I'll try and save $1,300 especially when I can do it without much effort. I'm at 21 average now and that's enjoying the hell out of my truck on the weekends and not driving like a moron M-F.

Got close to 21 just recently, driving from Tybee Island, Ga back home to Black Mtn., NC. Followed the wife in her Subaru -- we were doing 70/80 the whole way. DC/LB/4x4/stock rubber size no shell on bed for that trip. Not bad for a truck truck :)

I am thinking we need a seperate poll for 4WDs (double cabs and maybe the others)?

The 4WDs and specially the 4WD double cabs are the heaviest, and more weight robs gas mileage.

Obviously what kind of gasoline makes a difference, too... the ethynol dilution cuts mileage.

Earlier someone comented that few of us 'need a pickup'... huh? Where are you... in New York City?!?!

I need a pickup because of my outdoor construction work (irrigation) and I use the pickup bed and the 4WD for recreation... 2 cars (trucks) in 1.

    Well put.

Saving well over a thousand too a year if I compare my mileage with what I get when I drive like I stole the truck.

Funny Take a drive down any street in American with homes...I don't see many pick up trucks....Most people who buy trucks don;t NEED them. They are toys for many hobbies for others. Few are willing to scratch their beds. People who actually USE their trucks don;t fret a few miles a gallon, don;t worry about scratches and dings, Many are paying more than $2000 in interest when they could buy a nice used truck for cash the few times they really need a truck or rent one. But they pay $6000 a year in payments and worry about a few MPG. Doesn't' make a whole lot of sense.

If you are fretting 2 MPG..You are over your head financially.
