I've read here several times that Access Cabs are actually heavier than Double Cabs

Oh really? So people with trucks should just say to hell with MPG, we'll consume and waste as much fuel as we want, and piss away as much money as we can while doing it?

WTF is your problem with people trying to squeeze a bit more MPGs out of a vehicle (ANY VEHICLE) they have to save some money?

    Check this out: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/savemoney.shtml

At $3.80 for 87 here, a 2 mpg increase from 18 to 20 saves $317/year or $1583 over 5 years assuming gas prices stayed the same.

You think people should piss away $300 every year when they could do something to save it? Maybe the people doing this aren't over their head financially, but in fact are just doing what the can to save money so they'll be financially secure later in life.

    Edit:
In my area, used trucks were only $2,000 less than news ones, and used ones always have higher interest rates. And you obviously don't live in snow country or you'd know used vehicles cheap enough to save a lot of money over new ones aren't worth buying. They're all rusted and will require constant maintenance.

I don't know where you live but people around here with pick-ups actually use them... Sorry we can't all be as badass as you and put our trucks through heavy hauling and throw away money on gas needlessly. I hope I can be as cool as you someday

I think all you've accomplished in this thread is proving that you're completely ignorant when it comes to fuel economy and seem to think you're the only one that uses his truck as a truck. Someone else said it best earlier, go away.

You can be as cool as me someday if you stop making stupid financial decisions, save pay cash for your truck instead of worrying about 2 MPG while paying $400 a month for 60 months on a vehicle..... I may be ignorant to the way people conduct their finances but I am not ignorant to the result....Whining about 2 MPG is the proof in the pudding. 2MPG to save $300? REALLY?..... Heck most blow more than that in beer, cigarettes and dope a year.

WOW $317 a year? I'll bet you and a lot of others "piss away": far more than that on dope and beer and/or cigarettes in a year and don't blink an eye......

If you cannot buy a 4 year old low mileage truck for a min of $7000 off a new one you have zero negotiating skills. People look at ASKING prices and assume they are real. You don't know what a used truck will sell for until you BUY IT... I paid $20K OTD for a 2008 with 24K last year. Dealer was "asking" $23995..... I saved $7000 over new and have much less depreciation going forward. I don;t believe ALL used trucks in the north are rust buckets and require "constant maintenance" because I lived up there. and never owned a used vehicle that required constant maintenance. Poor rationalization to blow money on new.....and then whine about 2 MPG LOL

I am a little worried about you....That is a lot of discretionary lifetime in front of a computer screen. Unless this is how you earn your living..then never mind.

I've been averaging 14-15.5mpg a tank recently... pretty abysmal, but I have a lot of fun in the process! Lovely trucky!

I'd kill for a DIESEL. Cmon Toyota/America, diesel is the norm in almost all other countries. I blame lobbyists.

Although my overall mpg from new in 2006 is 18.3 mpg my gas mileage has been improving steadily as my truck is getting older. For 2011 I'm averaging 19.5 mpg. I'm not sure if it's because my tires are getting older and therefore less resistant to the road or maybe it's the gas I've been using recently (Costco) or maybe my engine has finally broken in. Keep in mind that I'm using California gas so that probably costs me 2 mpg. As you can probably tell...I've been using Fuelly.
