Double cab, short bed, TRD sport. Usually get 19-21. Keep speed around 65 on interstate and you can hit 20 mpg easily

My 4x4 DC with slight lift and 265 Duratrac Cs has been getting 19.3 to 19.6 last 10 tanks. Mostly 40 mile round trip commute miles 50 to 60mph.

Believe it or not, im getting an average of 30 mpg on flat highway. I have a 2005 Dbl cab long bed w/4.0 all stock. Im using low octane NON ethanol fuel(pure gas). Im paying an average of .15 cents a gallon more but in the long run its worth it for the mileage and no gumming caused by the ethanol.

It's a relative quantity that can be displayed by either the SG or the UG. Basically if you're up to (above?) 100% load displayed you're going to go open loop. Eighty percent is not that much in terms of absolute throttle position and if you want to keep the same load% as you accelerate you have to gradually push the pedal more as engine speed comes up.

30 mpg is darn near impossible on mine. I'd have to drive flat ground at 40 mph FOREVER.

Twas difficult to stay up to 20 mpg today. Blasted difficult. 25 mph sustained crosswind with gusts exceeding 45 mph isn't good for the FE.

I've been getting 17-18 mpg for the last year, since I bought my Tacoma. Suddenly the last few tanks I'm up to 19-20 mpg. Still using 87 octane, non-ethanol when it's available. And when I do use ethanol I try to put some fuel system cleaner in with it.

    I have gotten a best of 20.5 non-highway and a worst of 18.5 on 87 octane. DC 4x4.

And that's driving between 55-58 mph consistently. Have to leave work a few minutes earlier.

Nailin' down 24-25mpg on the hwy and 21-22mpg combined. That's with a full load of tools and cable and thule bars with a ladder on top. I know the extra weight, bars and ladder are robbing me but I have no choice. Its all in your driving style - a heavy right foot is your worst enemy. I got an Ultra guage to fine tune my driving style and it is paying for itself already.

My 4.0 got 22.8 mpg over the last approximately 1000 miles, mostly mountain driving with some city. Of course that is in a Ford. :)

My average (for all miles driven) is 18.8MPG. My new commute involves ~30-40% city driving and the rest highway along with minor hills, which has brought my mileage down a bit (just over 18 normally).

I fail to see the relevance to 4.0L V6 2nd Gen. Tacomas here...

I've been getting between 19.5 and 20 for the last several fuel ups. I also switched to Mobile 1 synthetic about month and a half ago and noticed an improvement almost right away.

Last -2- fillups were 20.5 and 20.84 on my 4.0L, V6 automatic access cab 4x4. No cover but in the process of getting a Bakflip HD. Mainly steady driving at 57 mph (80% of my trip.)

You sure you're calculating that correctly? I've never seen a 4.0L with that kind of claim, not even a fluke trip, but to average 30 MPG is unheard of. The 4 bangers are lucky to get that kind of mileage.

This summer driving with a light foot I was getting 23.5mpg on a few fill ups. Light foot with no weight in the bed or anything. Tried to use cruise control in city haha.

Also got 24mpg on one tank.

    Most driving was 40mph-60mph

    Also AC on stock tires.
I agreed. How is he running 87 and getting 30mpg. Probably running downhill, no wind, with the engine off. Hell, a small car with 3.5L V6 only got 30-35mpg on the highway.

And he's driving a Dbl cab? I smell shenanigans without proof of said 30mpg.

What type of improvement did you see with the synthetic ? Been considering that to help out.
