I am trying to also keep at or below 2000, and with around town (lots of stop signs and signals) and some highway... I am at 16-16.5. mpg.

If I drive a long distance on a highway, I am also usually loaded down with camping gear and ice chest, etc. That robs mileage made up by cruising without stop and goes. 17.5 mpg. Coming home from a Baja trip on Mexican gas (no ethynol), I did record 19.2 mpg as my best tank.

On the rare times I drive out to the desert for just the day, with almost nothing in the bed... I have gone the 100 miles to Ocotillo Wells, and my needle has only dropped to the 3/4 line (used 5 gallons). Which would mean 20 mpg! However, the next half a tank is in four wheel drive having fun... so that kills my checking the highway mileage for that tank. In 4WD, our mileage goes down to like 12 mpg.

I agree with you. I try to keep my rpm's at 2000 or under. That's when I get my best highway gas mileage. Of course, once you start going over 70 mph you will see your mpg decrease by 1-4 mpg and more. I recently towed a 3500 lb hard sided pop-up trailer over 1200 miles. I got 17-18 mpg, even through the mountains, by trying to keep my rpm's under 2500. I once did a long drive on Highway 1 in California where you can usually only go 50-55 mph because of traffic. I got my all-time best of 24.1 mpg on that tank of gas with 5 people in the car.

Had the trip mpg on the ultragauge up to 24.1 yesterday at 100.7 miles, which made me happy considering I was over 2000 rpm most of that distance. Not exactly easy on the 6 speed. Then I proceeded to drive 30 miles in pure stop and go capitol city traffic, which dropped it to 22.2 :( I have another 90 miles to put on today so I hope to have it up over 23 by the end.

Still winter blend 93 octane E10.

At least I can take comfort in my erroneous calibration - actual mpg is usually 0.2-0.3 mpg higher than the display :)

The 4.0 CAN do it, you just have to know the tricks. WAI doesn't work at all

if I drive the truck empty...I can get 20mpg easily, drivin' on these Florida flat lands.

but, lately...I'm building a new home so the truck bed (and back seat) is full of tools and supplies...

    so I'm getting 18-18.5mpg.

I am getting a steady 21.5 MPG driving 60-70 Interstate. When it was new I got 19 but it has gotten better each tank but seems to have leveled off at 21 or so. I got 22 only one time.

I used to Hyper mile my 05 Corrolla and could get as high as 58 MPG but now I have better things to do than coast 8-10 miles a day and drive 45 everywhere.

I didn't put the intake elbow on yet, aka warm air intake. Mpg's go way up at 110F but the engine doesn't feel spunky anymore.

Can't coast in this truck. 99% of the time it uses more gas than just leaving it in gear

I've been averaging around 19.5 with my v6. This is with the winter mix. My driving is mixed highway and town and its really flat here no real hills to contend with. I just added a tonneau cover yesterday so I will be able to see if that makes a difference. Also thinking about changing to an afe filter but want to see the improvement that the tonneau makes first.

FWIW with my tonneau I get slightly worse mileage under 55 mph and somewhat better mileage above.

AC looks like a hit of about 1.5 mpg on my truck. Sad, 81 degrees and it's not even spring yet, and our average high for now is supposed to be 43. Blew the record books right out of the water.

When I bought my tonneau it seemed to give me a bit better mpg on the highway, but a bit worse in the city with stop and go traffic, multiple stops, & starting the engine several times. The locking tonneau has come in very handy however. It's nice to be able to leave things in my bed without worrying that it will be stolen.

Here is video I took this morning with my GoPro shooting my UltraGauge. This is 10 minutes my typical 35 mile commute on I-95. I could let the video roll longer but not much would change. I was drafting a semi which improves mpg considerably.

I have a 2008 TRD Sport, Crew full size bed. AFE Pro DryS drop in and seafoam every oil change. Pretty standard set up.

My average is 21.7 (and climbing according to the UG started at 20.2 when I installed the UG over the Christmas holiday) since on the weekends I am running the kids around town and to the beach.

It would be nice to run that low rpm. This is what us 6 speeders are stuck with (UG said 2060 at the speed in the video). Examples are up/down a shallow hill, down a long grade, and to finish the flattest road I know of around here. Wind was calm.

I know prerunner auto-equipped tacos make this mileage a lot, but I don't think a lot of 6 speed 4x4s do. If this mpg keeps up, any regrets for not buying the 4cyl will disappear fast.

So when is my gas light gonna come on? :D

19.72 on my first tank after my tonneau cover. Not a significant difference but I was driving pretty hard, when I treated it like that in the past I was around 18.5. Who knows what I'll see in the future but I ordered an ultragauge so I can keep a closer eye on it.
