Yeah, certainly more of a hassle, but on behalf of everyone being screwed by this it's worth a couple phone calls. Pre-paid legal is more like just some advice on your options, but I was told they could refer me to a class action lawyer and see if they are interested. I can't imagine no one has looked into this yet so maybe it's not enough for them to hassle with it, but I guess I can see what happens. They also said if I can find some reliable documentation showing it's a known issue they can send a letter referencing that and suggesting that Toyota should address it.

Anyone out there a certified automotive engineer that would like to put something in writing? Or maybe someone already did. Google to the rescue...

Wow. That is probably the ugliest third brake light I have ever seen. My eyes hurt and my heart goes out to you. Good luck man. Do it right, do it by the book takes around four hours. Shortcuts usually wind up looking and working like it was shortcutted. But again, to each their own.

Took you long enough to reply clown shoes, cat ate your tongue?. I feel sorry for you and the people around you that have to deal with your sorry ass. Doing it by the book and disassembling the whole interior to achieve the same result. The reason why the "book" exists is to calculate pricing when performing repairs. There's the phrase "work smarter not harder", you obviously never understood it.

Hey, it's okay to have thin skin and be upset over that hideous third brake light. I heard you can replace it with a decent looking one in about 15 minutes....
Do me a favor... read a sample of my posts...I just read a sample of yours.

It's okay to be wrong, the only one upset here is you. Telling people that a quick replacement is BS and proven wrong is what got to you. "Do me a favor... read a sample of my posts...I just read a sample of yours." screams "I need attention". It's okay bubba, you need a hug?.

Agreed. It's the gasket that fails. Get some clear silicone and seal all around the brake light to the cab.

This is definitely the easiest route and what I did as well. Just check it every few months to see if the silicone needs to be redone.
