Went from 03 accord to 15 TRD sport. Honda only had 167k but the wifey said time to upgrade and keep up with the joneses. I miss the gas mileage but with gas prices down its not so bad.

I never really had a car exclusively without also owning a truck. If I had 1 vehicle, it was a truck. Recently I have had a car for modding, weekends and going fast and the Tacoma is my work truck

I had a 2006 Tundra back in 2010 but gas prices shot up and I bought a 2008 MazdaSpeed6. The guy I bought that from did some fun things under the hood and it dynoed at 388HP. I loved it until I hit a deer and totaled it. The frame warped a bit but it was still driveable. I kayak 2-3 times a week and got tired of throwing the kayak on top of it and wanted a truck again. I miss the speed and the stick shift but opted out of that in this truck. I do love just tossing the boat in the bed and putting a bungee cord on it. I also convinced the wife to get a MazdaSpeed3 so I can enjoy that...just means she gets the truck.

Those Mazda speed 6's were pretty quick....I almost forgot about them. I remembered about them when ford started making the 2.3l ecoboost mustang. I think the motor is made at the same factory the mazdaspeed6 motor was made in.

Vehicles serve purpose to me. So I would rather have 3 used, but paid for, vehicles that fulfill a purpose I'm interested in than one over priced new one trying to do all. The price of the '16 Tacoma would easily fund my fleet of 3.

I do 90% of my own maintenance.

For me, for a number of years that has meant............

A small/mid size truck. Kayak, bike, fishing, light trail, home improvement capable. Used in foul (tropical storm) weather. Reliable, hwy capable if needed. 4-5k miles per year.

A sports car. Defined as something with 2 seats, manual, preferably drop top, rail handling. Autocross / HPDE capable; hwy capable if desired. I mean the Dragon is a hike from here. Garage kept. 5-6k miles per year.

A sedan or CUV. 4 -5 people + luggage, economical TCO, reliable, comfy on the road. 10k miles per year.

Mileages are based on 2 drivers, lower when only 1 driver.

I'm definitely dumping my C63 AMG soon. Sick of the $1,000 services and the warranty just went out. I think I'll buy something more practical this time. I've been eyeing up the audi dealership close to my house.

When I was looking for a new car I was between a 2015 sti and the tacoma. Everyone thought I was crazy for comparing the 2

The tacoma was the right choice all day long, I love driving it. Buy I also still have my civic because I abuse my car for work

You need to ditch the Euro stuff and move to Asian if you want 'more practical'. And are serious about lower service costs.

Not only are the parts more cost friendly, the need for parts is much less often.

Been driving Tacomas since 2003, had to actually think what my vehicle was before my first one if that tells you anything. It was a turquoise green VW Jetta which was actually a fun car but I wouldn't trade a dozen of them for my Tacoma.

Honestly there are very few vehicles I see on the roads that I covet more than my Tacoma. Seem to be a perfect vehicle for me.

I drive one of each. Each one serves a purpose.

I went from an 08 Magnum SRT8 to my 07 tacoma, Even though it has 35's im still saving money on tires:burnrubber:, less likely to get speeding tickets, it was a good change

2004 dodge neon sxt to a 2014 toyota tacoma TRD sport 4x4. Let's just say I've taken my truck to places my car would've never been able to explore.

Went from a Lexus to a Tacoma. The Lexus was nice, but obviously limited on what you can do with it. I have more fun driving my truck. :burnrubber:

My last vehicle was a 2010 Jetta (on coilovers) and I do not regret it at all.
