Why does your AC seem bigger? I just looked at one and with the little seats up or down no way my dog is going to be able to chill back there unless I build a platform and even then it will be like 18" deep.

My first Tacoma was a DC long bed Limited. Nice truck and everything but Limited is useless and I ended up getting the truck totalled. Got a AC long bed TRD offroad for less than the first truck, and it's much better. Mind you I have no family to haul around, I've removed the rear seats and keep it for useful storage (work tools, general storage).

The AC has the 2nd gen 3rd brake light so no leaking issues.

No B Pillar so I'd assume AC cab is slightly weaker (I'd like to see crashtest data)

I think the AC looks better but that's just me

The DCLB was too long, ACLB is perfect for parking and stuff

The back seat area is definitely big enough for coolers / dogs / whatever. Especially after the rear 'seats' are removed

He does. I wouldn't even own a "Coors" dog.

Oh, this is something I forgot. After 3 years, my Access cab door seems a little rattle-y I'm a little unhappy about that, but it seems like on any access cab truck across any brand it's a thing that happens. I have to see how I can adjust the door for a slightly tighter close.

No way, AC cabs are way to small.

    That's a 2nd gen. Seats are different.

I do this all the time in my SB, I just put the tailgate down. I also haul 16 fters on my cap and cab rac without problems.

If by "different" you mean "better" then I'd agree. Not a fan of the 3rd AC back seat area, which is party why I'm leaning towards sticking with the DCSB.

It’s the older style seats that make it seem that way. They’re waaaaay better but from what I understand the swap is easy. It’s all the same cab though

Not really. I think with either the tiny 5 ft bed, or the slightly less tiny 6' bed, creative solutions are sometimes required to do truck stuff. I'm a contractor and use my taco as my company truck, but in my industry 5' is the standard, or 10', so either bed works for me. I will say if I didn't have a 6 year old to haul around, an AC would have been my pick.

I'm gonna have to fire up my welder once (if) it ever warms up. I'd like to make a pipe rack.

The hardest part for me is bending and angles. The hazard fraught bender works ok but is extremely imprecise. Also cutting a compound pipe angle with a grinder is tough, even if you do have receipt paper and some trigonometry. Those tubes were mostly by eye....

I have a horizontal cut band saw that I can set to specific angles no problem, those tubes are a compound angle, meaning they have an angle in both directions since they are also tilted in towards the bed of the truck. I'd have to be able to set both the cross cut and change table angle to get a chop saw or horizontal band saw to cut that. I don't have one that can do that, so receipt paper and eyeballing (or trig if you know all the angles you're working with) is how you make your marks, then grinder (or torch if you're working with big diameter pipe) is how you cut it. I'm a pipefitter (apprentice) and this is basically a 'lateral' and that's stuff we do.

I picked up this extender if I happen to need to haul long items.
