What determines who needs this? Yes, I get that they send a notice, but what is the issue exactly that causes the problem and how do they know it won't happen later to those who are not "on the list"?

Only Toyota knows the answer to that. Toyota has been known to broaden their lists like they did with the fuel pump recall.

    Good to know, thanks
I’m usually one to not want them forken with it, IF it’s not broke. But in this case, I’m taking mine in cause- they don’t have to tear in, it sounds like the seal deteriorates over time, And if I do have a larger issue down the road, I’ve taken their advice and I’m not accused of neglect.

Hmmm I doubt I will. My truck sits outside 5 days a week and I live in a freaking rainforest, no leaks whatsoever so far.

Go to the Toyota website and enter either your VIN or license pate number. They will tell you if your vehicle is subject to the recall.

So just to confirm, they installed a small ring on outiside? If that’s the case I might get it done.

    Thanks.

Hmm in that case I’ll probably get it done then. Wet interior sucks big time.

The reason l let them do it was cause they didn't need to take anything apart, plus now don't have to worry about the possibility of leaks.

I have a topper and they slid it back a few feet to do it and then re-secured it. So no, you should not have to remove it. But each dealer may be different?

I may call and make an appointment just based on the rainforest part.... after freakish weather like Tuesday, it might be better to do it and make it their issue down the road. I just won't be going back to the dealership I bought from. I could never trust them after the first service or lack of one...

Do they have to go inside the drivers foot well?

I just had mine done along with brakes and oil change but you can imagine my surprise when the kick panel flew off and got stuck under my brake pedal.

I looked in the inside and the retention tabs were off and there was a stress mark from pulling on the panel. There also was no screw top thing in sight that secures of the back panel to the floor board.

Note: I take meticulous care of my truck and replace even the littlest of shit if I damage something myself. I also haven’t been under there in almost a year. Pics show my attempts to reposition the retention tabs
