What is the difference between a snowmobile and a snowmachine?

Nothing, just depends on the region you’re in. In Alaska we call them snow machines or sleds, never snowmobiles. People from the lower 48 seem to mostly call them snowmobiles.

Trailer is safer due to where putting it on a sleddeck moves the vehicle's center of gravity.

When hauling a sled in the trucks bed it needs a plastic bed liner, or a sheet of plywood with ski glides screwed to it to prevent those carbide runners from digging in. Without it the sled will be lots harder to move.

In my parts, a snow machine is a device that makes artificial snow for downhill ski areas and a snowmobile is a recreational vehicle designed for snow.

Not using a sled deck, just raising the sled a few inches to clear the wheel wells. I basically built what this guy did in this video and have been using it for years with my full size trucks. I'd just put a couple of 2x6 or 2x8 on the bottom to get it over the wheel wells in this narrower truck. ;)

In the north sleds are more of a way of life and in many cases a necessity therefore a machine.

True, especially since todays truck are so huge and high off the ground. Back in the day (family first had sleds in 1967) we would find a snow back or a ravine to make the two surfaces closer. Backing on did make it easy unloading, six of one half dozen of the other. Trailering is best although one has to realize there is a lot of weight behind you and on slippery roads it is just waiting to push you thru an intersection or wag your tail when braking.
