Word of advice. Buy 1 extra HEPA filter for it. That way when you vacuum up your drywall dust, and have to wash your filter, she won't have to wait for it to dry.

I have a DC07 and it SUCKS, I mean, it really SUCKS. I would never buy any other vacuum. When I got it, I was renting a house with 2 girls, 2 dogs, and a cat. I vacuumed the whole house, one way and then another, with the middle of the range hover we had, and then I immediately vacuumed with the dyson, I didn't make it half way across the first room before i had to go dump the canister. I emptied it 5 more times before I had vacuumed the whole house, right after vacuuming it with a different one. Thats how much crap it pulled out of that rental house's carpets.

That was 7-8 years ago, I still have that same vacuum. I have stripped it down and cleaned it about ever year.

Now, if you really want to earn points, hire a cleaning service. Only about $150 a month, depending on your house. More time for my wife to cook and .... other things :anonymous:

I don't trust people in my house I don't know honestly.

Bonded or not, I really wouldn't relax when I knew a stranger was in my house.... we all have quirks...that 1 is mine.

I completely understand. Some friends of mine had a cleaner steal from them, the company took immediate and swift action. I actually like cleaning, but my wife and I both work, have two kids and another on the way, and a dog. We simple do not have time to clean properly. I was surprised how cheap it is, plus anything so valuable to us that couldn't be replaced, is in a safe deposit box.

I have one....can't remember the model - got it at Target. It's a 'Target' model and red in color.

It really SUCKS!! :D Literally..... I love it.

My only complaints...is the fact its made up of sooooooooooo much damn plastic. The plastic parts come apart (at filters) and when I'm running the beater brush, if you bump the front of it on something....the plastic comes in contact with the beater and makes one hell of a noise. Again....cheap plastic!!!

It could be this 'Target' model that's made cheaper since it was less expensive.

They are awesome. We have had them for about 7 years. Hose is weak. We had ours replaced twice, even thought the unit was out of warranty,Dyson replaced it for us at no charge. I would say they are awesome folks to deal with.

It was amazing when we had wall to wall carpet; it collected enough dirt to seemingly fill an entire bag vacuum. It still does a good job with tile and laminate. The hose system is pretty ingenious. The vacuum is very easy to take apart if you suck up an entire paper towel. With regard to the allergen aspect, it is HEPA. However, the action of vacuuming carpet, as well as the vacuum exhaust, blows and kicks up allergens.

I didn't read all posts, so if you already made your decision, Cheers!

    ur kidding.........thats awesome!

well, awesome they took care of u atleast....ill keep an eye on it (when it shows up) ;)

Erin woulda LOVED a red DC41....she loves errything red, which is why I basically replaced a ton of appliances, knife set/block, toaster, storage containers, plates, big ol stand up mixer, microwave, food processor, crock pot, utensils, and a bunch o crap I cant recall right now with Red stuffs.....We didnt need it, but I would catch her checking out some of the items and not say a word....She truly loves her kitchen, and damn shes a great cook!

Ill keep an eye and ear open for the noises and inspect the plastic....My dad was an injection mold inspector and I picked up a few things over the years I think.... Plastics have come a long way, but its still a plastic/rubber, and I just hope their QC is better.

I just seen some kinda "asthma/allergy" certification, No biggie, in the end....Its just a vacuum so Im not looking for a miracle, I just wanted to make her day... SHe always eyeballs our friends

And yesssir, It is on its way....its somewheres in Maryland according to UPS

thnx again erryone for your input...Im feeling better about the purchase so far, and learned about a few things to look out for.

Gotta love this place...toyotas, food, vacuums, pets, guns, knives, travel, LEOs, technology......it just keeps going...thanks Bob!

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
No personal experience here, people I know love it... That being said Consumer Reports ranked it in the upper teens with several other brands between half and third the cost as numbers 1 and 2.

I'll have to find the report for exact numbers.

No issues at all till she sucked up half a rug it seemed like and burnt out the motor, and when we bought the unit it was a remaned unit in original box and it still kept up with our 2 dogs and three girls. I bought that one and the new one from ebay seems like you can get pretty decent deals with either new or remaned units.

Wouldn't waste my money on it...had the same thing then bought a Rainbow. You'd be amazed how much crap the rainbow will pick up right after vacuuming with the Dyson. My wife had to have a dyson of course so I bought it, then I saw what the Rainbow could do and that was that. If you want a good vacuum get a Rainbow and forget a dyson.

I would never spend this kind of money on a vac. I have had my Hoover to 6 years now with know issues. I just take care of it and keep it clean and still works great.

well, lots of dyson lovers here, but i got to say, I have a DC14 and the only thing i can say great about it is it never looses suction and it has a long cord. I sucked up drywall dust, dirt and just about anything that will fit in the hose and doesn't clog the filter. I hate the build quality. Extension wand broke off (made of plastic) I have to play with the adjuster on the brushes to contact the carpet. everything wiggles like a loose chain. And its quite heavy for what it is.
As far as getting dirt out of the carpet. I'll stick with my Bissell 44. whips dyson's A$$ getting dirt out of carpet. I do have to clean the filters out. the only down side. I did a side by side test with them.
