Anyone have a good idea of how it would cost to take a stock first gen from pic 1 to pic 2?

Like I said a camper shell and / or regular tent will get you by until you get a good deal on a RTT - they're really overhyped right now so I bet a lot of guys are going to be selling them off once the craze dies down. Great minds think alike lol.

Labors gonna kill you on the lift installation. Just do it yourself, you learn a lot and you save a lot of money. It's not that difficult with videos to help.

When I first bought my 2nd gen Pepboys got me for $500 or so to install coilovers and shocks. Man if I had only spent that on tools lol. Never again :)

I'll admit that I am a soft man. However I'm a broke one, too. Here is my solution:

After growing up packing all of my camping stuff on family river canoe and kayak trips and sleeping in tents on the ground in the rain I will never do so again willingly - this setup is as comfortable as my bed lol. 3" foam pad under the sleeping bag and extra padding under the carpet. :)

This is actually exactly what I wanna do instead of an RTT lol, just a little more permanent. Maybe some sort of wood frame with a really long drawer underneath and a thin mattress on top.
