Ha, the pump on mine won't stay shut unless you pump it once, but it is 15 years old. I shot a bird the other day which is the first action its seen a while. I got my son a swingset last year and the birds straight murder that thing!

That's the same one I have. I got a 4x scope with it. It's great.

I forgot about my other one. Its a Crossman American Classic like this one:

    IMG_3994_8a1c0848d95c2d3b96f3aa0e0b1d52afbd4af9ab.jpg

Its a single shot and is pretty powerful, just not very accurate.

Well dogs are a different story as well. Ive had 3 different dogs coming over and shittin in my yard latley so I picked up a can of bear mace for them. my next door neighboors let their dog out front some mornings and comes and craps on my porch and growls at me when i try to leave the house. If he does it again he's getting bear maced!

I really wish I would have held off and got one of these.

That's the thing with pump guns, you don't have to pump them up enough to break the skin, just enough to put a sting on it's ass. My yard is fenced in so the only dogs in my yard are mine.

There's this bird around my house that likes to sit on the pipe for our wood stove and just hammer his beak on it like a woodpecker. I fell asleep out in the family room last night & 6am this morning that SOB started at it so I got the pellet gun out. I didn't find the body, but it's been quiet all morning now.:D

Easy! Load it, pump a few times, take aim & squeeze trigger. That bird has been annoying the sh*t out of my wife and this is the first chance I've had to catch it in the act.

Just be careful when you're shooting those things. Make sure there are no people around..... the last thing you want to do is shoot your neighbors eye out. :D

I play airsoft which is meant to shoot people (when safely equipped). So the FPS limits are restricted to 400fps @ 25 feet with the group I play with. Although I've hit a couple rabbits with my 490fps airsoft sniper rifle.

YOu guys should try airsoft.....shooting people is much more fun!

We have a pump bb gun also. Looks like the same crossman steve-O posted. That thing is powerful. With 8 pumps at 50 feet, it'll kill a rabbit.

I had one of those for a long time. The seals dried out, but I put some miles on it. I gave a new one away as a gift not too long ago. Nice and cheap. You can adjust the power by the number of pumps. My mom hates guns and she shot that thing.

    To the OP:

I now only have an antique Daisy Red Ryder and an old Crossman CO2 rifle. The Crossman CO2 rifle is horribly loud. It's a very unique sounding gun too.

If you want to kill animals with an airgun, you're going to want a very powerful airgun. They're typically noisy, but I haven't heard that Gamo Silent gun. The noise is coming from the supersonic pellet after a point I think... You might want to consider paint ball or airsoft to scare things away.

    To everyone:

Please don't kill cats. Please call animal control. If you don't have animal control, maybe look for a shelter or something. Some people don't put collars on their pets and some people have "barn cats" to control mice and birds. We have a stray cat here and I'd call the pound, but my neighbor likes it. She'd probably use it as an excuse to get me into trouble.

CCI makes a round call CB caps in long and short. I started using CB caps because my pellet gun was to loud. I have 25+ .22 guns. If you use a rifle the CB caps or the Aguila 22 rounds are quieter than a pellet gun. Plus if you have a cheap scope you can make head shoots all day. I keep a pump and a lever action both loaded just for the little cridders that like my cats food. They will not cycle thru a semi automatic gun and if you shoot them out of a pistol then they are to loud. I live in town and have a 50ft small bore target range in my back yard and a good bird feeder( i just shoot the black birds and the Pigeon).........happy shooting
