I haven't had that happen. It could possibly be a fuse issue though. What they said may be an exaggeration

I've actually had the dongar installed for a few months now...just been putting off choosing the correct camera.

Everyone seems to go Garmin....I almost want something that I can use as video playback for off road trips as well.

Any high quality suggestions that will be fine being powered by the Dongar? I understand it is best for a low draw camera....

The Dongar adapter is good for anthing less than 2 amps, which would cover most any dash cam with a built in lcd screen. As for high quality, stick to name brands but don't expect too much. They all advertise as being 1080p, HD bla bla bla. If you playback the video on an HD tv, no matter what camera you choose, it is certainly not blu-ray quality. Not even close to it.

Anyone have issues with the suction cup falling off in high heat? I have one in my 2017 taco and it’ll fall off every once in a while so I finally mounted it to the GoPro mount. Upgrading to a 2021 taco so looking at options since it doesn’t have a GoPro mount.

I ran into the same problem, didnt want any loose cables, got this Donger adapter from Amazon after researching on TW and YouTube, and have my Garmin Mini 2 in the mail, waiting to install once it arrives

I used the adhesive that came with the garmin mini. Hasn’t fallen off in extreme cold or hot temps.
