Random question, I know, but for work, it would be real handy to have the truck vault with the cargo glide, but I am unsure if a full size dog crate (golden retriever, roughly 80 pounds) would fit on top. I can't seem to get a direct answer from the dealer here as to how much space I would lose in the bed in terms of deck to ceiling.

I don't want to shell out the cash and then find out it was a bad fit!

    thanks!

i would love to know this as well, as I'm considering a truck vault and need two dog kennels in the back with a shell on top. anyone?

How long is a piece of string?
    --
What's the height of the truck vault?
What's the vertical height of the cargo glide?

Are you running a rack or canopy on top?
Is the opening large enough to slide-in the crate? Or is the crate collapsible and will be assembled inside?
Is the roof of your rack/canopy level or sloped? Where will the crate sit in relation to the slope of the roof? Are you able to secure it there?

The first two questions can be easily solved with a simple search or a couple phone calls to manufacturers. The other million questions can't be answered by anyone except you.

Oddly enough, it took me calling 4 different dealers to finally get an answer. but, the answer I got was that the truck vault was close to 8" tall and the cargo glide added 4" to that.

Thanks for the logic dump 0210, appreciated, but was actually just asking one question that I couldn't seem to find an answer to, how tall were the two items combined. You're right, the other million questions I would easily be able to figure out on my own.

    Cheers.

Assuming you're running a canopy, I think your biggest issue will be clearing the upper part of the canopy's rear opening.

Look into other bed slides, too. I had an ATC bed slide that took away roughly 3" of vertical room. I believe the option from FrontRunner, while not rated for as much weight as the competitors (Cargo Glide, Bed Slide, ATC, etc.), is a lower profile still.

Correct, running a ARE Z series. I may have to just go with either one or the other of the two options, not both drawers AND slide, if I want to fit my current crate in the back. I am short about 4 inches in head room. I didn't know that front runner had an option. will look into that!

The bed slide manufacturers should be able to make a custom-width bed slide. I'm fairly certain some folks have done that before. Put your dog's crate on one side, use the remaining width for a bed-slide.

Or use something like this instead of the custom bed-slide: https://www.rvupgradestore.com/42-x-60-Slide-Out-Cargo-Tray-MORryde-p/92-5068.htm (the site has lots of other dimensions/options).

I've been tempted to build my own, but I know my patience level would end up ruining everything. Figured a tested and proven system like truck vault while expensive, would save me some headaches. I like the idea of cutting the cargo glide down to size though!
