Anyone have LED Whips on there Taco?

I'm re-thinking this - might be a cop-magnet. too hard to believe that it was another truck with the same light-saber light

 

Buggy whips is a great whip. But that price is ridiculous

 

You can always make your own. Shake a stick a Youtube and there are plenty of tutorials.

 

Usually on the company site, they are pushing over 200. So that's a great deal

 

Back in the late 80s we used to buy little led bulbs with filaments like a Christmas tree bulb has and attaching them to the tips of our whips. The bulbs would light up from RF energy when we keyed up.

 

I'll make one, got myself a 4' cb antenna, bought 10' of addressable led strip, I'll pair it with a sp107 Bluetooth controller, and will have my Taco-wan kenobi armed with a music responsive lightsaber

 

Where are you guys tapping in for power source in the bed? i made my whip with a cheap Led strip and Quick disconnect off Amazon. currently using the 12v outlet in the bed but it’s not ideal…

 

Currently running a boss brand ( I know it’s cheap audio) but the whip seems to be lasting pretty good and I like the multiple patterns and colors it has

I've seen this company's exhibits at mining industry trade fairs. Dunno if they sell their LED safety whips to regular consumers, but for mining they're probably decent quality. Various lengths, colors, etc., shown on their website. Possibly US-made, too.

Could always find the pinout for your trailer wiring (if equipped) and tap the running/tail light wire.
Long standing rumor that you don’t want to run red, blue or flashing lighted whips in the CA dunes. Seems the rangers like to arrest for impersonating law enforcement and/or use it as pretext to stop you for other things. That said, lots of people run them anyway.
My truck came with this bracket that bolts to the oem bolts for the taillights. Not sure who made it but I have a 6’ non lighted whip with a flag on it. Might go lighted eventually but I don’t dune very often so…
