Picking up my new 2017 TRD off road tomorrow and I'm looking for a single roof rack to work with a single bed rack to carry a ladder. Does anyone have a suggestion? Or does anyone have some to carry your kayak or ladders that you can recommend?

The Toyota Roof Rack seems like a good choice for the money and I think it has a weight limit of 100 LBS

Depends on the length of ladder, there are some great racks out there but can get pricey, (prinsu, frontrunner, gobi) a thule or yakima cross track might be good for you.

I'd probably be more interested in a single cross bar Yakima or Thule setup for OPs uses.

OEM roof rack really isn't that great, and for less money he'd have a stronger system.

Yeah that's more what I need. Just want one that won't scratch up the truck or mess with the weather strip

Won't effect the weather strip since it clamps onto the door jamb.

Also, won't scratch if properly installed - the clamps are taped on the inside, I'd add a little more as well for extra diligence. I've ran them on several vehicles without issues, just don't over tighten the clamps.

I'm sorry, which ones are we taking about? Do you have the name or are you just saying generally those types are OK?

I have the OEM and love the looks, like how the bars swing so I don't have to drive around with the cross bars going across the truck. That being said, I havn't used it, spring and summer is coming so we will see then.

I've had a Thule rack with fairing year round on both my tacomas, 2006 & 2013, without issue.
No marring the door jamb or weather stripping. It works great imo.

I grabbed the Yakima SkyLine towers w/ CoreBars, and they suit my needs perfectly. I have them mounted on landing pad #1 though, as these are on the factory mounted tracks on my A.R.E. shell. The Yakima setup is sturdier than I thought it would be.

I wanted a Prinsu toprac, but in the end the simpler setup was more practical for me (and cheap).

Search "Rhino Rack" on here for my write up on that product and how I compared it to the OEM rack and Yakima.

There is also a group buy going on now for 25% off all Rhino Rack.
