It should be very close at stock alignment specs, if you get a higher castor alignment you should have 0 rubbing. May have to remove mud flaps or go to a low pro option. I was able to run 285/70r17 on a 17x9 +1 with a 2" front 1" rear and an alignment with added castor.

so hypothetically speaking… you’re saying i can run 17x9 -12 with 285/70/17 tires on a 2inch lift without rubbing , CMC, or trimming needed on stock parts ?

It's always a maybe as every truck is different to some degree.

The lift is the least important aspect here. Lifts do not mean clearance it only helps ride height. If you hit a bump while turned the wheel goes right back to where it was and what it would of rubbed on at stock height it will still hit under compression.

The alignment pushes the wheel forward in the wheel well to help with the cab mount clearance.

The only 100% way to gaurentee no rubbing is you have to be ready to trim and cut a bit worst case. Doesn't matter what we say here you need to make sure you have a competent shop to help you make it work if you don't understand how to do it.

By rule of thumb yes this should work but never a gsurentee

I ran this setup without any rubbing (with zero trimming) with a 2.75" lift up front and stock UCAs. However, my lift installation shop said my truck was the only Tacoma he's worked on that did not rub with a wheel/tire setup that aggressive (17x9 -12 and 285/70/17).

With 17x9 and 0 offset and 275/70, you should be in the clear, with zero trimming needed... but just as Veet-88 said above, it's never a guarantee.
