A lot of people that had the harsh ride tsb had the dealer put on the incorrect recall springs.

I had to fight the dealer after they did it to me.
04005-34404 are the correct harsh ride tsb recall replacement. Aka the “Canada/Mexico truck” springs.

The recall notice explains this, but per usual, most dealers aren’t worth a sack of crap.

But there's two different things being talked about here.
    1) Harsh ride TSB. This came our several years back and was for bottoming out the bed. They added a leaf into the pack if I remember correctly. I had this done back then.
    2) The leaf spring Recall. This is a recall, not a TSB, and from my understanding, they will replace the entire leaf pack. From what I've read, I qualify as I have the 3 clips on the leaf pack.

Yes I am talking about both.

There are separate recall springs for trucks that previously had the harsh ride tsb completed vs those that did not.

There were/are many instances (myself included) where dealers put the incorrect recall springs 04005 - 34304 (I.E. not the part number I mentioned above 04005-34404) on trucks that had the harsh ride tsb completed. This lead to lots of complaints about sagging and poor ride.

Ok. So since I did have the tsb completed years ago, the recall springs I should get are part#04005-34404. Is this correct?

What's the difference between this part and the part for those who didn't have the TSB?

Yes you want the 34404 springs.
The 404 springs are labeled for “Mexico and Canada trucks.”

Read through the recall technical guide for more information: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2014/RCRIT-14V604-9602.pdf

Ok Thanks. I've read it and read several of the last pages in another thread with over 100 pages regarding the recall springs. I see some people see an improvement, sitting higher and/or stiffer. While others are getting a height loss.
I understand some of that can be due to them getting the 343 kit vs the 344 kit.
I may take it in and ask to keep the old set as well. That way if I notice it is worse, I'll just swap the old set back in.

The dealer put the 34304 kit on my truck first - it sagged within a day.

I’ve had the 34404 springs for more than a year. No issues at all. Sits close to the tsb springs previously.

Sits close.. Are you over or under what the TSB springs had the rear at previously?

A Totota dealer replaced the springs about a year ago. I don't notice any difference except they screwed up the alignment now the steering wheel is off center.

My tsb springs were 6 years old. The recall springs sat a little above the tsb springs before they were removed. They are right around where the tsb springs were now with a little settling.

Ok. So no height gain. How about weight carrying capacity before bottoming out? Have you noticed any difference there?

No. I frequently load up the bed of my truck with a bunch of camping gear, loads of wood, construction materials, etc... No difference between the old tsb springs and the recall springs.

Though honestly... you should get the recall done regardless. The potential for a broken spring and a punctured gas tank is not worth a quarter inch of ride height here or there.

If you want to worry about ride height you need to go aftermarket. I’d suggest a progressive add a leaf or a full leaf pack from Dakar or something.

I am stock height on stock size tires. Wheels/tires will do more more for the “look” than ride height if that’s what you are concerned with.

I understand and agree with you.

I just don't want to lose any height and/or weight carrying capacity with the new springs. I'd be happy with just getting a new set of springs on a 13 year old truck as long as all other things are equal. Because if the new recall springs are a downgrade, then I'd rather just add another clip myself to protect against the potential springs breaking and hitting the gas tank.
In fact, I'm thinking I can purchase a new set of dakar leafs and then submit for reimbursement. I read at least one person did this and Toyota did reimburse him. So he got a better set for free.

If you get the 3404 I don’t think you are going to see a difference.... honestly.

I still have my harsh ride TSB springs and haven't done the recall yet. My TSB springs with Icon AAL haven't sagged yet.

I still debating whether to do the recall or not because some people say the recall version of the harsh ride TSB springs sag. And then I have to convince the dealer to remove the Icon AAL and then reinstall onto the recall springs.

Mine were replaced as a safety recall (rust?) at 81K miles. At 100K miles, the frame was replaced.
Unfortunately, they do not list the replacement part number on the service line print-out.

Worse, I ended up with a sticker on my door that said my load carrying capability was reduced.
I'm not sure how much, but I recall 200 to 300 lbs with no visible sag
Also - shame on Toyota corporate for not being able to spell "Quantity" in their corporate systems.

I had it done. I haven't noticed any difference on sag or ride. I had it done because I figured it wouldn't hurt anything to have a new set of springs on their dollar!
