I think you should tint enough so you can't see out the side windows at night so you can weave and dodge and speed up and slow down before you dare change lanes on a freeway, and so you can never see the pedestrian or motorcyclist or bike rider you run over, and thus never be haunted by the image of the person you killed. Be sure you look cool over any and all concerns about legality for sure, and be certain safety never enters the equation either.

I have 43% in front windshield, I love it, specially at night since now everyone is using HIDs in NON-HID housings it helps to fight the glare. I have a high degree of myopia, reflection from the sun in car's windows and upcoming cars with improper HIDs among other things gives me a migraine, so front tint is must for me. Honestly I have more difficulty driving in dark roads with cars coming towards me without front tint than with tint. Windshield tint is legal here down to 40%.

    A word to the wise-

A friend of mine had a brand new vehicle and was involved in an accident that was deemed his fault, despite contributing factors and had his windshield tinted at the time of the accident. It was only 50% but his insurance company denied his claim because he "intentionally" obstructed his field of vision. He was left with a totaled 50K vehicle. I have had previous cars with tint on the windshield, but I left this one alone :)

I have 5% all the way around with a 5% brow....before I did have 35% on the whole front windshield...I love the stealthiness of it...as far as driving at night it was never a problem for me...my 72' bronco and my previously owned '94 yota had double 5% all the way around with 50% on the whole windshield...and cause I grew up in Hilo, Hawaii there aren't many street lights mostly country...it was always dark...haha

I ended up ripping off the 35% off the whole front windshield cause too many friends of mines were getting busted and had to pay $200 tickets...so I stripped it and put 5% brow...the brow is almost 7-8" down on the windshield well pass the legal limit which is 4-5"...you can find the marking on the top left corner of the front windshield (front passenger side)...

I had it done on my old car (2003 IS300). It was pretty light so it was barely noticable at night, but tinting the windshiled a little really makes a big difference during the day if the rest of your windows are tinted. I couldn't see into the car at all.

As I'm sure somebody has pointed out (I didn't read the thread), it's illegal most places. The place I had it done charged me $100 and didn't give me a receipt. :spy:

I have mine done 55% all around, Huper Optik. You cannot really tell the front is done and the job is so perfect there isn't really much of an edge to feel.

I had it done at STM in Koreatown, Hann Kim is the absolute best. When I was there, we delivered RR Phantom to O'Gara, he does plenty of cars for them as well.

Pics available if you need them...

I live in Tennessee. It is illeagal here also, but everyone does it. It is a fix it ticket only. you can actually remove it and bring pictures to court or pay a 125.00 fine and keep it. go figure? if you get caught again its another fixit tickit. can you get the pattern here? all about the money in my town. I have 35% on the front and 35% on the front two windows and limo on the back windows. Looks pretty awsome with my red truck. No problems at night, do what you want and noone can see you.
all 6 windows tinted was 120.00 avg price in these parts by the professionals

A fully tinted windshield is illegal in all 50 states. I did have a visor placed on mine and I like it.

    Not the best picture.

Here in MD, anything darker than 35% is illegal and if you get pulled over for a minor reason, they will give you a fix it ticket for the first time and the second time they will slap a huge fine on you 500+... this has not happen to me but a buddy of mine had limo tint on his civic and he got a fix it ticket, took it off. the day after he got the ticket signed off got the tint put back on... he got pulled over again this time for tint, he gotta $500 dollar fine... took it off, got it signed... now has is back on... he's smart eh?

i have 20% on the front 2 windows and 4% on the rear windows, back 2 doors, and the strip on the windsheild. its horrible backing up at night... i have gotten used to it sorta...

I've toyed with the idea of getting my windshield done at 75%. The tint shop I go to just had 50% in which I think was too dark but they said they were getting 75%.

I'm sorry, but is it wise to diminish your outward visibility on your windshield. Especially at night, I would think that one would want to see everything which you are approaching while driving a 2+ ton vehicle. JMHO

I had 20% on mine. I had a paper to have it, but at the beginning of 2009 La. passed a law u couldnt have it on the windshield but u can still have it on all the other windows. i had tint on my windshields ever since i started driving, i loved it and miss it.

Now all i got is a 10'' stripe on the windshield and 5% over 20% on the other windows.

No it's not wise. 75% is really light. It's about equal to the glass coating on the new Mercedes Benz models.
