    Hi Guys,

Winter is coming and so is the snow and salt. I live in Boston MA and we have Hafners Car Washers all around. Anyone bring their Taco through it? Any problems, bumpers, mirrors ripping off. Any scratches ? How do you clean your truck in the middle of the winter?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Not sure about Hafner's, but I've been using car washes for years with no damage whatsoever!!

no guarantees from damages through automated car washes...
but make sure you fold in your side mirrors (don't ask)

I only do touchless... too many horror stories of antennas and wipers getting caught up in the other ones for me.

I only use the drive in pressure wash places where you spray it yourself. It doesn't get it super clean, but there's no way I'd let a car wash brush ever touch my truck.

I use an automated car wash and haven't had any damage to the truck or shell. The only thing that scares me is it will flip the side view mirrors in. I've tried flipping them in before going into the wash and then it flipped them out again! So now I just don't mess with it and assume it'll be fine.

Out here in the PNW I take my 2017 to an attendant drive through car wash, Blue Wave. Have a chronic problem of those rubber strips on the cab coming off. Decided to tape 'em down at the juncture seams and no more problems for now. Had a head light ripped off on my 2002 Taco. The car wash paid for replacement. Check with your car wash on the their liability due to damage. Some say specifically cars and trucks older than 5 years old, are not covered, wash at own risk!

Car washes with brushes = micro scratched no gloss paint and even bald areas on corners in a few years.

Touchless with undercarriage wash is the only drive through I take mine through. Gotta keep that New England salt off. And that was with my old tacoma. My new one since March has been pressure wash only and If a brush is needed I just bring mine with a homer bucket.

In my last truck, even with mirrors folded in, I had the passenger mirror ripped off. I just use touch free if I don't have time for hand wash.

Automatic car washes is a damn torcher chamber for cars.... They will scratch your car no matter what!! If you have a black car/truck you will see the scratches it will make. Other colors you won't see it, but it is there in certain lighting and after years of doing so it will ruin the gloss and shine of the car.

Nothing will beat a properly done hand wash.

    Good luck
