A few months back I learned of Element Extinguishers from the 24 Hell and Back challenge. All the competitors received one. Question: do any of you have one and have any of you used one?

I'm a fan of the form factor but not of the price. From the 24 Hell and Back vid 1 it looks like it is straight forward to use. Any of you out there have experience with this gear? No affiliation with the company, looking for feedback from any of you that have it/have used it.

    I like:
    • Its a solid - no worry about if the extinguisher is charged
    • Form Factor - small and portable and easily mountable
    • Works on any class of fire including grease
    I don't like:
    • Cost
    • That it isn't recommended for coal or wood campfires
33 minute mark is the product demo if the timestamp link didn't persist for the video

Reviews on them are not good at all. I like it, but I wouldn’t rely on one as my sole fire extinguisher

i equipped all my vehicles with them about 3 years ago. never used one.

the main advantage is that it doesn't really go bad, it's not pressurized, and it's not corrosive.

but disadvantage is that it's mostly a 'bug-out stick'. most of the reviews that show it in operation show that it really doesn't extinguish any fires, it just delays them in a lot of cases. so that might change how you perceive the use of them--help the kids get their seatbelts undone while firing it, get the heck out, then watch things burn...

i recently was at a camping show, and this Fire Suppression Solutions company was there showing, but not demonstrating, their products:
    https://firesuppressionsolutions.com/safe-products/

the advantage is that it puts out the fire, it's cheaper, smaller, and can be used multiple times, disadvantage is that it's back to an aerosol form.

i personally don't like the idea of an aerosol/propellant can in my vehicles, ever. but i see more of a benefit to the second product than i do to the element's i already have. in all reality, if i ever really need either product, it's going to be a bad day.

I have one in my Jeep and in my Taco. I think Soundman expressed my understanding of them well enough.
Its not going to save your vehicle after a massive crash and the fuel lines catch on fire. But its going to delay it enough to get people to safety.
Its easy to deploy. if the situation permits it can be put on the ground/pointed at a location and left while you help people/yourself get away. And the time it runs for is longer than a comparable pressurized fire extinguisher.
Its also easy to secure to just about anywhere in a vehicle. My Jeep has a roll bar mount and its velcro'd to the mount. My taco has it on my seat jacker MMP with quick fist mounts under my driver seat so its super easy to get to and its out of the way. Its also not a heavy projectile in a crash/roll over.
That said, on long trips in either vehicle I also carry a small standard extinguisher.

However like Sound said, my opinion is limited to storage/access and that it doesn't have a shelf life. I haven't had my life or anyone else depend on me using it, and hope I don't have to.

I would not rely on these. Nothing beats a true fire extinguisher in an emergency
