I have a 2006 Tacoma with only about 130k miles (90k highway), no grey/unusual exhaust, no malfunction/problems, etc. However, I seem to be loosing/burning oil at an increasing rate, and it seems like my oil is always filthy, even shortly after a change. It started about 2 years ago at about 1qt/1500mi, but now has accelerated to a rate of 1qt per 500mi. Is this normal? Should I be shopping for a new engine? Anyone got advice on that process?

You got problems my friend. One quart every 500 miles is a huge red flag! Say goodbye to your old friend, she is dying.....
