Last weekend I got some mud on the truck and after washing it off 5 hours later, it had etched the clearcoat in a couple of places. I bought a R.O. buffer and they came right out but today I got shat on by a bug that etched the clearcoat again. I know for fact that it wasn't on there more than 2 hours. Anyone else having problems with theirs?

I'll be having the dealer look at mine at my next service interval.

The clearcoat on these trucks is very soft and weak , you will have fingernail scratches under your drivers door handle in no time .

The roof of mine is full of water spots that etched into the clearcoat. Tried almost everything to make them come off, but looks like it's permanent. :(

My 2009 Silver Mica's clear doesn't have these problems. I keep a good layer of wax on it at all times.

I have the same problems, I think Toyota dropped the ball on the paint job on these trucks; there are so many fine scratches and rock chips all over the truck - and I wax it 4x a year at least. I have given up trying to fix them all, thinking about just repainting it in a few years

lol just went out and waxed it again this past afternoon. I've waxed it like 4 times since I got it 5 weeks ago. Overkill but hopefully it helps protect the paint some.

My 07' seems a bit soft. Lots of light scratches around the door handles but not really bad over all the trucks finish.
