I've been running around in Oregon and Wyoming the past couple of weeks and it just looks like it's going to be total chaos everywhere. But what the hell, the youngest daughter and I are going to head up into Wyoming to peak at the sun through our silly eclipse glasses. Hopefully, being fully self-contained with the RTT, Fridge and such, we can stay out in the boonies and avoid the worst of the crowds. But I'm just curious how many Yota's I should be watching for along the way... We plan to camp around South Pass and then wind up probably either north of Lander or over near Shoshoni by Boysen Reservoir.

I'm getting 88% coverage, so I'm heading out to the front yard and calling it good. I got a filter for my telescope and some glasses. I figure my boy will love it and not know that we aren't getting the full effect. I just hope he doesn't stare at the sun on Tuesday.

I'm at 99% at my place, I'd have to drive 20 miles to see 100%

If you're at 99% it is worth it to go 20 miles... I've heard it's just not the same without 100%

I'm lucky I don't have to leave my yard. It'll be a madhouse anywhere populated.

I'm going to try and get some pictures of it since I have an adapter for my telescope.

In South Carolina alone, over 1 million visitors are expected. Most of them are going to populated areas and public lands like USFS and parks. Traffic will be backed up as everyone tries to get to the best viewing spot or get home afterwards. Media and first response agencies are prepping for increased emergency calls.

95% where I am at. Going to look at it briefly, here as long as cloud cover allows it. Job is going to get in the way of seeking a spot for 100% coverage...gotta pay the bills!

I'll see what I can do.
It may just be a pic of a 4 year old crying because his dad is hogging the telescope lol.

Yes. Officially, the National Park Service's number one concern is parking availability. Number two is clear skies. My local park will be closing the gates once the park is full. They've also sent out warnings about not blocking access for emergency vehicles and not parking off pavement to prevent habitat damages.

I'm not typically one to overhype an event, but for this one I am super stoked to not have to venture out to get a good viewing spot.

We're driving up to a friend's family's ranch in WY. I'm dreading the drive back to CO.

Heading up from CO to WY, probably to Union Pass Road, and hopefully backpacking in a ways to get away from people (we'll see how that works out).
