I'm driving 45 min from my house to a family-owned undisclosed location that should be out of the Path of Insanity, but well into the Path of Totality... get almost a minute and a half of full eclipse where I'm going, and should hopefully avoid the bulk of the crazies.

I plan on walking out into my backyard at 1pm... watching it around 130PM CDT.. hanging out and watching it go away.. and then going back inside.

it's nice to be in the path of totality.

Ready for viewing with the oddest safe viewer yet...took the door off my wood stove, with the glass insert, smoked it heavily with a candle so all I can see is the disc of the sun. Tried it already, and it works great! it's a little heavy, but it was free! AND, it will clean up easily!

Watch for my boys. They'll be on the north end of Boysen Reservoir in my white 2016 Tacoma. Enjoy the view!

Millions of $$ and hours of travel, along with Traffic NIGHTMARES, for 2 minutes of dark...I mean, yeah, it's cool, but...

You have 2 pieces of paper and a pen? Poke a hole in one sheet of paper with the point of the pen, and hold it over the other piece of paper...

99% total here and that’s enough for the eerie darkness to fall across the land for a minute or so. Didn’t have to go anywhere is the best part.

Okay, got to say that was cool! We had 99% here and when it got close to totality it got cool, dogs started barking, solar lights came on in my backyard, security light came on, my Taco slept through the whole thing in my garage!

99% here, dogs didn't even notice, temp did drop a bit, but the light took on the strangest gray quality I've ever seen!
It was really cool! Weirdest aspect was seeing the regular shadows in the bay window in the front of my house, and on the deck, but the light being so dim. Not diffused like it gets when it's overcast, more like someone turned down the dimmer...

I noticed the temperature drop while I was standing out in the driveway, the oddest part was the MGM paint on my truck was totally cool to the touch, was resting my arms on the hood when I was not checking out the sun.

93% here. That's exactly how I would describe it, nothing like being overcast or a sunset...like a tint to the sun or someone turned down the dimmer. Pretty cool watching through a pinhole camera. Might do the trip out in 2024.
