Anyone here involved with the BSA

Also a win.

 

Im an eagle scout also. my little brother is first class now, I have been in the scouts since first grade, my dad was the scout master, my mom was the den leader I worked my way through it and it has made me into the man i am today, I help with the troop any chance i can.

 

Eagle Scout 1986. My son is a Life and starting to work on his project. I've been a Scoutmaster for 10 years now and I just finished a District Chairman stint for the Largest District in our council ~ 2400 youth and 1300 adult volunteers. It was fun, but I'm happier when I run under the radar so no more of that type of stuff for me...

 

Eagle Class of 96 was 15yo at the time. My boy is currently a bear in Cubbies and I'm the Cub Master while my wife is a committee member. Brotherhood in OA, was Senior Patrol Leader and JASM for a while.

It's great. I still try my damnedest to live my life according to the BSA values that my leaders taught me.

 

So this was my and my sons pinewood derby project from about 3 years ago. I made one for him and one for me for the "parents" competition... LOL, nobody lets their kids make their own anymore but the parents/family bracket attempts to solve it. Anyways I tried to make his (he did help!) with all the go fast tricks,




and I decided to make mine of what I would have wanted when I was a kid...





End result was that for some reason the Elcamino derby car ended up faster than the go fast car, completely unintentionally. I won the parent/family bracket. Year before my other son went to districts with his car but we lost speed at districts and was beaten.

 

Eagle Class of '97, the first in my troop. Went back for a ceremony this past May for the '100th' Eagle from my troop. Was pretty neat getting to be as involved as I was, reading the part about the Eagle Trail, and then getting to pin on the scouts Eagle Pin the 1st doing the 100th!!! I also teach the First Aid Merit Badge at something called Merit Badge University at Auburn University that my old fraternity (Alpha Phi Omega) held every spring. There are usually 500+ scouts there each year. While they have since gone Co-Ed (don't get me started), we were all male for the previous 80 years. I would like to do more with the scouts, looking forward to my nephews getting older so I can hopefully do scouting with them. It was such a great time, so glad I got my eagle. It's come in handy a few times even with job interviews now that I'm in my 30's.

 

THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I still have my pinewood derby car from almost 30 years ago!! Good times!!!
