Considering something for my drive only. I have plowed for many years with a 2500 HD, but not a Taco with only 4K for miles.

I just put a BOSS on my new Sport. I’ve plowed with Tacomas for 25 years so Im familiar with the limitations vs a one ton.

As far as mods, because I generally have 15-20 driveways, I use Timbrens on all 4 corners to help with sag/squat , and Bilstein 5100’s at all wheels. Fronts are set under 2” which levels the truck. The only issue is BOSS hadnt made an adapter for my stock leds , meaning the plow headlights are on a separate switch vs automatically utilizing the factory stalk as I had done with my Fisher plows in the past. I believe a fix is in the works if not already out by now. I keep a few hundred lbs of ballast in the bed and have zero traction issues.

Ive used Off Roads for plowing in the past, but I wanted a Sport this time around. I’ve had no issues plowing in its first winter. I use the stock wheels with Cooper A/T’s , not the Pro wheels in the picture.8011893A-FE76-47E3-85FC-BB8E3468A7F7.jpg
If you are only planning on doing your driveway, the Limited will do fine as is.

Id recommend a “lighter duty” plow setup such as the Western Defender, or the Western Suburbanite, their poly blade plow. Fisher also sells identical versions to these , just in yellow. Those would be the Fisher HS, and Homesteader , respectively. Both versions are available in two different blade widths. 6’8” or 7’3” for the poly blade , and 6’8” or 7’2” for the steel versions. The BOSS HTX plow I have is probably overkill for just your driveway.

Thanks for the info. I'll research "Homeowner" models. i did use Timbrens on an older 2006, 2500 HD but were not needed on the 2016 model.

Do you mean the moldboard on the plow ? Or something on the truck itself? As far as the plow blade, Ive used the steel , aluminum, and poly versions over the years and never had an issue. You are pushing , not hitting.

The bottom of the blade that scrapes the ground called the ‘cutting edge’, is really the only wear item, and is easily replaceable when needed. Both metal versions use 14 gauge thick braced steel/aluminum, and the poly version is 1/4” thick. They are beefy enough for their intended use and can take it.
Overdoing it would typically cause other failures before the moldboard would crack.

i'm talking about the radiator support sheet metal on the front of the truck. many people have had issues with the thin sheet metal cracking just from installing heavier aftermarket front bumpers. the plow is probably a lot more durable than that sheet metal.

    All the things!
Cracking the sheet metal sub-frame is usually due to heavier or dual battery setups and aggressive offroading. Bumpers and winches attach to the frame horns, not the radiator sub-frame.

a plow puts a lot more stress on the front end so i figured I'd mention it. let us know how it holds up.

Lol gotcha. That makes more sense. I know that my plow frame bolts up to the truck frame a lot lower down , so that area you mention doesn’t incur any stress. Its purely connected to the frame.

I installed a front mount receiver and use a Snowsport for my driveway.
