I'm up for an Oktoberfest meet up, Except soccer is every sat am...so either I bail on coaching my kids team or we just show up late. Either way should be a good time. Hope I can make it.

We could do Sunday too. I just picked Saturday to avoid football for the die hard fans. Jets are gonna suck this year anyway.

@Doublecross , Doesn't sound like a bad plan at all.
Sooner or later we might find time, and maybe have meet ups like the Dodge/Chrysler guys in the mall parking lot  ... ok, maybe not every week like them, but once in the while. I think that wouldt be cool :amen:

Honestly don't recommend this spot to that many people... very narrow paths and deep water, have put some pretty heavy scratches into my truck. I do know a couple good places around here though that maybe I could share!

If I can pull it off, not 9/16, 9/30, 10/7-9, or 10/14. The 'boss' has to work those days so I'm solo duty, or she has something planned for us.

I'm trying to figure out as well. I'm going to AOAA Sep 29-Oct 1, besides for that Sundays are OK with me, especially if we make it są family event. Just my 2¢

So, not that I'm a huge player in this, but those were dates that I CAN'T make it happen for me.

I also agree about Sunday if it's a family event, although I'll probably drag them all along anyway no matter the day.

AOAA is nice from what I hear. You know, you are about a 20-30 minute drive to head out to Bald Eagle state forest and rothrock state forest. That's 200,000 plus acres out there and some good trails to run if you've never been out that way. I came back from there covered in mud last weekend. ran about 7 hours off road and didn't even explore all the trails. you can download a pdf of the forests on the PA forestry site with all the unpaved roads marked pretty well. Once you are there, there's even more unmarked trails and service roads. if you don't already have a permit to use AOAA, at least the state forests are free. I passed one other vehicle out there all weekend. Plenty of dirt, slop, and a few water crossings. May not be as technical as AOAA, but it's free.

    upload_2017-8-22_19-41-48.jpg

not my pic, but pic on line. plenty to find if you google bald eagle state forest off road. Wife and I are heading out there again around labor day with a truck filled with camping gear. Can probably go 3 full days of driving and not see asphalt if you plan it right.

Where in SI are you? left the island about 20 years ago. Originally lived on the north shore, off Forest ave by silver lake. haven't seen the island since parents moved out 10 years ago, except when wife would watch Mob Wives and ask if that's what it was like growing up in the old Richmond.

Thanks for all the good info. I have never been to AOAA before, nor off roading. Complete noob! Full of enthusiasm about it, wish my wife would share my enthusiasm, lol. Always wanted to go 4x4, but life gets in the way.
I'll definitely look up Bald Eagle State Forrest, thanks.
I'm a recent transplant to Staten Island, moved here from Brooklyn over 5 years ago. We live around the mall area, in New Springville, by Forrest Hill Road.
Where you used to live, it still is a beautiful area. Most of the houses west of Silver Lake look like they have some Character to them. Further North and East, not so much. Projects, shootings, stabbings, Meh!
Mob Wives, lol. Some of the people I work/worked with we think to school with some of "Stars" from that show... So yeah, that was real! Lol.
Anyways, back to wheeling, we have 2 1/2 yo twins, so (according to my better half) camping and Overlanding is out of a question, at least for now. Maybe in a few years, I'll be able to build up my Taco a bit (self recovery /winch, suspension and stuff) and then maybe, just maybe we will go as a family to places like Bald Eagle forest and more. Time will tell.
